Source: Alabama Official and Statistical Register, 1911, page 127 Legislative Department, Pike County Thomas Henry Brown, of Troy, Ala. was born Oct 19, 1845 at Upatoie, Muscogee county, Ga; is the son of Joseph Thomas and Virginia Henrietta (Pride) Brown, the former of Virginia, the latter of Columbus, Ga.; and the grandson of Joseph Brown and wife Mary, of Lumpkin Ga., and of John Pride and wife Sarah of Columbus, Ga. The grandfathers, Joseph Brown and John Pride were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. T. H. Brown was in the Confederate service in the 31st Ga Regt. through the War of Succession, entering at 15 years of age. Was educated in the schools of Upatoie, Ga. and Opelika, Ala. He is a farmer; and the editor and proprietor of the Troy Herald. He has been a J. P. and school trustee about 25 years. He is a Democrat; and a Methodist (M.E. Church South). He was married first at Pronto, Ala. in 1867 to Roana Flemming, the daughter of Rev. Dr. Oliver and Olive Flemming of Midway, Ala. She died near Brundidge, Ala. 1889. His second wife was Susan Alline Turner.
