    1. Re: [ALBARBOU] Paroled soldiers
    2. Hi Homer: Thanks for your letter re: Gilmore, William M. in WAR. I got the following in Montgomery some years back: CONFEDERATE MILITARY RECORDS//Gilmore, William Marion...........Company (H or K) 1st Reg. Ala. Vol., Private Applicant; (Mrs. M.M. Gilmore) Widow. Authority: Pension Application. Bullock County. May 26th 1889 On copies of four applications, H Company, 1st Regiment of Alabama Volunteers is mentioned. In records at the Columbus-Bradley Library I found: W.M. Gilmore Capt. Faulkner's Ala Cav......Chamber's Cav Sub. assigned Wade's 8 regiment company The book on Pike County soldiers list William M. Gilmore as killed at Look Out Mountain. I believe there was a W.M. Gilmer and a W.M. Gilmore. One of the family stories was that he died of disease at Look Out Mountain. I haven't been able to find out anything for certain. Thanks again.....I have not responded sooner due to the storm taking out my modem on Thursday night. I just got a replacement today. John Gilmer
