The following Deed record shows my great grandfather Lucious Joshua Johnson and wife Sarah Henrietta McNeal selling 160 acres of land northwest of Old Springhill, to Mattie Thomas Thompson in 1921. ============================================================ The State of Alabama) Barbour County ) This indenture, Made this 27th day of February in the year of our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Twenty between L.J. Johnson & S. Henryetta, his wife of Barbour County, State of Alabama of the first part, and Mattie T. Thompson of Barbour County, State of Alabama of the second part. Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Thirteen Hundred and Fifty & 00/100 dollars, to us in hand paid by the party of the second part, at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, have Granted, Sold, Released and Confirmed, and by these presents do Grant, Bargain, Sell, Release, Confirm and Convey, unto the said party of the second part, and to - - heirs and assigns, all that certain messuage or tenement and tract of land, situated in State and County aforesaid, and particularly described as follows: The West ½ of the South West ¼ of Section 20 and the North West ¼ of the North west ¼ of Sect 29, Township 13, Range 27, containing onehundred twenty acres more or less. Together with all and singular the rights, privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever, thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining. To have and to hold the premeises hereby granted, with the appurtenances, unto said Mattie T. Thompson and her heirs and assigns them and theirs only proper use and behoof, forever. And the said L.J. & S. Henryetta Johnson does covenant with the said Mattie T. Thompson & her heirs and that hey will warrant and defend the premises to the said Mattie T. Thompson & her heirs and assigns, forever, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons. In witness whereof, the said L.J. Johnson & S.
