    1. Re: [ALBARBOU] Captains
    2. Homer JONES
    3. Joyce, Alexander D. McKinnon, 1844-1919; would have enlisted around Jan 1863 as Pvt, Co B, 57th Ala Inf Rgt; near the end of the war his Co became Co G, 27th Ala Inf; he surrendered with Co G of the 27th May 1, 1865 in Greensboro, NC; the records do not show that the 57th or 27th Ala ever served in Va; buried Pea River Presbyterian Church Cemetery, just north of Clio. I find two C.W. Hicks; the first served as Sgt, Co H, 3d Bn, Ala Reserves; to have served w/ that unit he would have been quite young or older; Since he held the rank of Sgt, I would think he was was older, in the 45 plus area; the other C.W. Hicks served as Pvt, Co D, 3d Bn, Hilliard's Legion; the Legion was disbanded in Nov 1863 after an earlier battle at Chickamauga, Ga where the Legion lost about fifty- percent of its men; upon disbandment, the men were transferred to either the 59th or 60th Ala Inf rgts or the 23d Bn, Ala Sharpshooters; I do find him in any of the three, so its possible that he did not survive Chickamauga or was too badly injured and could not continue to serve; C.W. or Charles W. Hicks is not recorded as being buried in present day Pike County Deo Vindice, Homer
