Joyce, The 7th Ala Inf Rgt was a 12 month rgt and after enlistments expired in Apr or May 1862, it was disbanded; a number of those from Barbour who had served in the 7th, re-enlisted in the 39th Ala Inf Rgt; the following men of the McKinnon line appear on a muster rolled for Co C, 39th Ala Inf Rgt dtd May 15, 1862 at Opelika, Ala: Daniel M., age 20, Daniel N., age 25 and John S., age 23; near the end of the war, the 39th Ala was consolidated w/ other rgts and those who had served in Co C of the 39th were transferred to Co H of the 22d Ala; only one, John S. was present to surrender in NC in May 1865.
