According to the Historical Atlas of Alabama, Cemeteries by locations, there is a Pine Level Cemetery located in T9N, R25E, Sec 34. It is the church cemetery for the Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. It contains approximately 220 graves with the first known interment being Cornelia M. Campbell in 1900. Common surnames found there are Gulledge, Hagler, Helms, and Pippin. If I remember correctly, this cemetery should be on CR 33, just north of the Dale Co. line and Skipperville. Richard SOS 6-3
Sabrina, Sec 33, T10, R27 is on CR 32 which is off of CR 79 near Rocky Mt. Methodist Church. It dead ends into CR 71 near New Hope Cemetery. By the time you reach New Hope Cemetery however you are already out of Sect. 33. Richard SOS 6-3

Sarah Elizabeth (Harrod)Flowers was born 27May1843 in Barbour County. Married Harrel Flowers in Barbour County on 13Aug1861. Harrel died in 1905. Sarah was living with one of her daughters in Dothan in 1910. Would there be a death index for Houston County or an index of obituaries that may have been published in the Dothan newspapers? Mac

Bill, There are two Confederate soldiers buried in the Homestead Cemetery at Tennille; Pvt C.P. Anderson, Co K, 15th Ala Inf and Pvt Joseph Wilson, Co F, of the 15th Ala Inf; lookng for parents/wives, if you can help or point me towards someone who can. Just above Tennille at Pleasant Hill Missionary there is a Sam Paul, "faithful slave of Lt Robert Paul, Co L, 15th Ala Inf"; I know Lt Paul died and is buried at Richmond, but I'm trying to find if Sam was with him at the time. Sorry for this "laundry list", but anything at all will help, as I have nothing more than that provided. Thanks, Deo Vindice, Homer

No, I haven't. I've been searching the area around Coffee County, since my GGGrandfather had land there. I thought perhaps he met his wife, Anariah Thomas, in or around that area. I did not know that many of the people in Barbour County came from Georgia. Thanks for that info. Retreva
Hi, List! I am a new subscriber and would like to request your help in locating any information about my GGGrandmother, Anariah THOMAS, and her family. I have just learned that a Joseph THOMAS, of Barbour County, purchased land in Alabama in September 1, 1858. I would like to know if he appeared on the 1850 and/or 1860 census in Barbour County, and if so, who is listed as living in his household. My GGGrandmother's maiden name was Anariah THOMAS. I would like to know if this Joseph THOMAS is her father. Also, would like to know names of her siblings and her mother. Anariah Thomas married my GGGrandfather, Gabriel Kettner, in Alabama June 9, l860. I do not know where they were married nor do I know where their first son, Cephus Bascom Kettner, was born. I know this is a lot of information, but thought if I share what I know, it may help someone out there to help me with the missing info. I am also interested in any information on a Charity or Charity A. THOMAS. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide. Sincerely, Retreva
