    2. Mattie, Yes there is a Pine Level Cemetery in Barbour Co. I can't give you the exact coordinances right now because I am at work and don't have my maps with me. It is in the southwestern part of the county not far north of the Dale County line. The Godfrey surveys of the 60s includes the following at Pine Level; Conrillia M. Campbell 19 July 1814 14 Jan 1900 Husband: Daniel (The first name may have been a typo, but that is the way it was listed in the books). D.A. Campbell 7 Apr 1845 11 Jan 1916 Mrs. D.A. Campbell 7 Apr 1864 13 Mar 1937 Daniel W. Campbell 7 Feb 1884 24 Feb 1920 D.A. Campbell Jr. 12 Feb 1908 29 Jun 1914 inf c/o D.A. & Katie Campbell infant Campbell 1901 c/o Mr. & Mrs. D.A. Cambell Porter Caampbell 7 Mar 1902 14 Sep 1904 Allan Campbell 20 Mar 1899 24 Feb 1904 Father D.A. Campbell These are all of the Campbell listings at Pine Level from the Godfrey surveys. 3. Richard, Please tell me how to contact Mr. J Brackner, These type Grave Houses and the ones with Sea Shells and Broken Dishes and Pitchers, are on Christian Creek Indian descendents Graves. Old timers will remember seeing them, they have all been Cleaned up and are mostly gone, we all thought they were that way because of Poverty. we didn't realize the Crockery had been broken to let the Spirit out. 1. [ALBARBOU] Garvehouses and Pottery Gravemarkers
    2. Homer, Bonnie, and all other Skull Orchard hunters Mr. Joey Brackner with the Alabama State Council on the Arts has contacted our local Historical Society with a request. He is trying to determine through individuals who have canvassed the cemeteries in Alabama, where there may be Gravehouses and/or Pottery Gravemarkers located. I have seen only one gravehouse during my travels of Barbour County but to date, I have only been to about 130 of the 200 plus cemeteries in Barbour. The one I recall seeing was at Pea Creek Church Cemetery. If anyone has knowledge of any gravehouses located in Barbour Co., please advise. For those who may not know, gravehouses are wooden structures, usually with gabled roofs that cover graves, usually found in rural cemeteries. Because of the difficulty in maintaining them, many cemetery committees have elected to dismantle them. Mr. Brackner is offering professional restoration advice and even grants for those interested in repairing them, as opposed to tearing them down or allowing them to deteriorate. I do not believe that pottery gravemarkers are common in this part of Alabama. They were more prevalent in areas where there were once family run potteries. The main problem with them is that lawn mower slugs are tearing them up. I can't recall any pottery gravemarkers in Barbour Co. but if anyone knows of any please let me know. Thanks, Richard SOS 6-3

    2. Richard, Thanks for looking the Floyds up. My gggrandmother, Margaret Jeanette Floyd m. Samuel Pilot 1846 in Barbour Co. Margaret was said to have two sisters that were married in Barbour Co. probably prior to or close to the 1846 date. We thought that they married brothers and possibly Hunt brothers. Oh well, thanks again. Betsy
