    1. Re: [ALBARBOU] GLOVER - Confed Vet
    2. Margie, While you are in Montgomery did you have any plans to check at the Masonic Headquarters for records of the Eufaula and Glennville lodges? I don't know if your reseach would involve this or you would have the time. I checked what they had at the Masonic Library in Washington, D.C. and the little I did find included a number of members of the Eufaula Regency and there were some dates of death given for other members. What I was told by the people in Montgomery were that older records from lodges were held at the state headquarters. I don't know if the records would include any family/ancestor records. Just a thought. Tom Tilton

    3. Margie, I don't know if those GLOVERs in the Confederate Veteran index are from AL or not - I did not take the time to look since there were so many, and none matched the first names you gave. They could have been from any state, and some of them might not have even been veterans since all names in all articles were theoretically indexed. The 3 volume index to the Confederate Index is huge - these are not small volumes. Each issue of the Confederate Veteran had a section called "Roll of Honor" or something like that in which obits were printed. In the 3 volume index, there is no "obit" entry in the index. One must search through the index for a keyword that might be contained in the obit, such as name, city or county of residence or birth, CSA unit, etc. I searched the index for all the Southeast AL counties and quite a few of their cities/towns, and then looked up each entry. Sometimes the index reference was not even an obit - which is how I ended up with the article about the CSA monument in Eufaula, and the "mother of soldiers" article about Mrs. Lewis. It is impossible to tell from most of the index references what the article is about. Terri On Wed, 30 Aug 2000, M. Daniels wrote: > All the Glovers are related that I have found in the area.
