Donna - The book is "the Confederados, Old South Immigrants in Brazil" edited by Cyrus Dawsey & James Dawsey , U. Al. press - I think they are profs as Auburn. It is heavily documented. The second chapter is the fascinating personal memories of a lady in her eighties who went there with her family when she was seven years old. That was so interesting it made the rest of the book seem pretty dull.
