I did not know Keenan Wynn, the movie actor was from Clayton. That's good to know since I was born there too. Pat VZ

No, but he was probably related to Keenan Wynn, the movie actor from Clayton. Deo Vindice, Homer
Homer, I am waiting for Mrs. Margaret Slade to get back to me but she said that someone here in Eufaula gave a copy of the Spreadsheets to the library and someone else paid to have them bound. She is checking to see if they may be available in some form but we know they have not technically been published. Richard SOS 6-3
I wonder if he was an ancestor of the famed athlete, the late Early Wynn of Hartford..... In a message dated 00-09-04 15:23:15 EDT, you write: << Robert W. Wynn, May 16, 1830-Dec 3, 1903; served in the CW as Sgt, Co G, 33d Ala Inf Rgt; enlsted at Dale- ville Mar Mar 29, 1862; wounded at Murfreesboro, Tenn Dec 31, 1862 by a musket thrust; wounded again at Chickamauga, Ga Sep, 19, 1863; buried Hartford City Cemetery in Geneva County; wife V. Richard, You had mentioned at one time that possibly the Barbour Cemetery Records would be available for purchase; any update? Thanks, Deo Vindice, Homer

> Also, looking at some births - John/Catherine Garland had a son Thomas Dear list. After that depressing letter about the loss of family research and heirlooms, I hope ya'll won't mind if we lighten up the list a little with the following. Willie in California You know you're taking genealogy too seriously if... You are the only person to show up at the cemetery research party with a shovel. To put the "final touches" on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA samples. Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored. You decided to take a two-week break from genealogy, and the U.S. Postal Office immediately laid off 1,500 employees. Out of respect for your best friend's unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity, you are willing to turn off that noisy surveillance camera while she reviews your 57 genealogical research notebooks in your home. The armed security guard, however, will remain. You plod merrily along "refining" your recently published family history, blissfully unaware that the number of errata pages now far> exceeds the number of pages in your original publication. During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around that 1886 photograph of dear Uncle George. The most recent document in your "Missing Ancestors" file is a 36 page contract between you and Johnson Billboard Advertising Company. Ed McMahon, several t.v. cameras and an envelope from Publishers Clearing House arrive at your front door on Super Bowl Sunday, and the first thing you say is, "Are you related to the McMahons of Ohio?" "A Loving Family" and "Financial Security" have moved up to second and third, respectively, on your list of life's goals, but still lag far behind "Owning My Own Microfilm Reader." A magical genie appears and agrees to grant your any one wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored.
Dear Retreva, There were no family stories submitted under the name of Gabriel Kettner or Anariah Thomas. There were 14 Thomas stories submitted but no Kettner stories. The heritage book has over 1220 family stories and 430 topical stories and well worth the Pre-publication price which is still in effect until futher notice. $59.00 for mailing to your home and $54.00 if you pick it up locally. the only definate pick up place is the Louisville Bank. The book has just been given to the pubisheras of 8-24-2000 with 1220 family stories and 430 topicals. It will be one of the biggest of the surrounding counties. It will not be ready for Christmas. It will be ready by next spring. If you have any more question please let me know. You're my hero....That age also ties her closer to being the Sara Jane of William W. Crocker family who's bdate I have as 22 May 1851. The 1900 census had Henry and Minnie's bdates wrong, so there's no reason to think it had hers right either. That discrepancy always bothered me about trying to tie the two together. Mollie was definitely married to a VANCE according to the following: Obituary from the Montgomery Advertiser - 8/12/37 Page 7 H.B. Crocker TROY, ALA Aug 11 - (Special) H.B. Crocker, 65, died Tuesday after a long illness at his home in Shady Grove. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie B. Crocker, four sons, Fox, Sam, Ned and Jack Crocker, three daughters, Mrs. T.J. Dorman, Mrs. S. E. Redmon, Mrs. Kirby Spivey. He is also survived by several grandchild- ren, a brother, Hance Crocker, a sister, Mrs. Mollie Vance, and other relatives. Funeral was held from the Belser Cemetery today at 3 p.m. with the Rev. M. Redmon officiating. Burial was in the family lot with Rhodes Funeral Home in charge. I gotta get to that 1910 Soundex!!! Sure do wish we could find a marriage record for Sara Jane of William CROCKER branch... Thanks for all your time and help. I hope you don't mind me sending a copy to the lists for Coffee, Pike and Barbour, but maybe somebody out there has the piece of puzzle that we need. (You'll probably get 42 copies of this.) Cathy Van Cleave emailed me a thanks for posting info on the Putnam Co., Ga. site. I have found a pattern of some of these travelers. I transcribed lots and lots of info for other counties and also the CSA records for the state of Tennessee that are now on the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors system for the park service. I found that many were in Baldwin>Putnam (Putnam was formed from Baldwin), then on into Crawford County, from there they came over to Alabama and many right there in our counties. So take a look at the Putnam County Georgia site. You will find the tax rolls, Primitive Baptist records and lots of other useful info to find your ancestor. If you find your missing links be sure and share your success stories. If you find a site that has surnames that you have seen on these mail lists please let us know it may be the very missing link someone here needs. Thanks, Margie

I have just begun researching my Walker family line. My great grandmother was Rena Walker from Barbour County. Her father was John Lofton Walker and His father was either Daniel Lofton Walker or Daniel S. Walker. I would really appreciate it if someone has information that will help me with this family. Thanks, Deidre Cannon
Thank you for helping. I will add this info to the Barbour list and also forward the info to the other lists.
