Reeders Mill was northeast of Blue Springs. Starting from there, look to northeast on map someone sent URL for. You'll see Spivey's Lake or Lake Spivey. Continue northeast and you'll see a forked road with the two forks pointed west. Look carefully and you'll see Bear Creek just to east of the forks. Reeders Mill was powered by Bear Creek water. It was on maps in the 1950s and 1880 census listed pop. 500 or so. If you run across Reeders/Readers in census records, I'm interested. thanks. I can not help you about the burial place of John and Nancy but can give you a proof the family was in Barbour County, close to Louisville and Clio in 1858.The oldest Presbyterian Church in Barbour county is Pea River Presbyterian Church organized in 1823 on highway 51 between Clio and Louisville. The church is in its fourth building.I attend this church. In 2014 a history book to celebrate the church history over the last 190 years. The following is a excerpt from that book I thought you might be interested in. From page 27- copies of the book are still available. If interested contact me. "The church history states the first small churchbuilding (made out of logs) burned due to a forest fire, and a second bigger buildingwas built with a balcony for the slave members. It also burned. Neither building had a heating source. A small log building was also built near thechurch, which served as the session house, also called the community house.1The first buildings were located on the west side of Alabama State Hwy 51. A thirdchurch building was built in 1858 across the highway on the site of the presentchurch. The contractor, Daniel Beverly, was commissioned by the church sessionJanuary 1858 to have the project completed by October 1858 for the price of$500.00. The third building is described in Back Tracking in Barbour County by Anne Kendrick Walker asa "simple frame structure, bare to plainness. The door was closed, but a wooden peg, slippedthrough an iron ring, was all that held it. The porch was supported by two slender columns. There was a short flight of steps."" Mary P. April 20 is the birthdate of genealogy researcher, Delilah Evans. I am saddened to learn that she died on February 28, 2018. Obituary for Delilah Evans: Delilah Evans, 78, of Huntsville, AL passed away February 28, 2018. There was a graveside service Friday, March 2, 2018 at Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers make donations to breast cancer awareness. http://www.pattersonfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/Delilah-Evans/#!/Obituary As you look online at various [email protected] associated with Alabama & Georgia, you will note that Delilah made contributions over a period of many years. She shared information on individuals, towns, graveyards, history, etc. She was eager to assist others in their family research. She was willing to do look ups from her extensive library of reference books. She located and sent Death Certificates, newspaper articles, books, etc. by mail. Delilah was a wonderful genealogical support to my family, providing valuable information on my Alston, Fortson, Eiland [Hitchcock/King], Pruett, Thornton, Turman family lines. We enjoyed her friendship for many years. She blessed my life and that of many others. She shared info. on her father, Thomas Gordon Evans when he preached in Sheffield, Ala. "Tom Evans, a local minister, preached on WMSD (later WLAY)" She owned a postcard of the radio station tower which is regarded as a Historic Landmark by the Alabama Historical Society. It is featured on: "Remembering the Shoals The past is the present for future generations who do not know their history." https://rememberingtheshoals.wordpress.com/2013/04/21/this-is-a-1930s-photo-of-the-wmsd-radio-station-tower-located-in-sheffield-colbert-county-alabama/ "This is a 1930s photo of the WMSD radio station tower located in Sheffield, Colbert County, Alabama that mentions Tom Evans." In 2006, Delilah posted recollections on DEBORAH LEE EVANS, ending with: Acknowledgments: "None of us who are interested in our families’ journeys are without a debt of gratitude to the family historian, the storyteller and the researcher on whose prior work our version of history is based." These words are a fitting tribute to Delilah. Eugenia
