Please note this index does not give specific dates, but it does tell the will book, page number, and the dates covered by the will book where the document is found. Sometimes the dates are pretty narrow, but other times they cover a broad time range. Email me off list with any request. Hi Kristi............ It's wonderful that you have an index and offer to do look ups. Thank you in advance. While I have searched many different indexes, you never know when you'll strike gold. With that in mind, would you check your index for an "I.C.Morgan". His name was Isaac, however he almost invariably went by "I.C.". There is a J.C. Morgan that comes into play in the mid-1800's and I have come to believe that this is more likely a transcription error that has been perpetuated, as the handwriting of the day truely makes it just about impossible (unless the name is something like John), to distinquish between an "I" and a "J". So I believe that J.C.Morgan and I.C. Morgan, are the same person. In my research, J.C. Morgan suddenly appears as the head of family, at the same address previously identified in the census as being owned by I.C.Morgan. I believe, but I'm not certain, that Isaac's middle name was Cecile. He owned a lot of land in Autauga. That land is still today either entirely a ranch, or part of a ranch. Some of the land looks like maybe the state might even own it. And I don't know if the land even extends to what appears to be a power plant. Isaac was the son of Elizabeth Stewart Morgan. He was born in 1810. His mother, Elizabeth, died in 1856. She is buried in the Stewart-Morgan Cemetery located on that land in Autauga. This past fall I tried, and failed, to find that cemetery. I don't know if Isaac is buried there. One would certainly have every reason in the world to believe that he is. But I don't know. And I may never find out. This past fall, I was able to obtain, thanks to Caroline who is the president of the Autauga Gen.Soc., copies of a number of legal documents pertaining to Isaac. But I'm always on the lookout for more. Thank you, Diane gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Author: Kristi_Moffitt >Surnames: >Classification: queries > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.autauga/12759/mb.ashx > >Message Board Post: > >I have the Index to Alabama Wills 1808 - 1870 > >I am willing to do lookups. > >Please note this index does not give specific dates, but it does tell the will book, page number, and the dates covered by the will book where the document is found.
