I did talk to a distant Robertson cousin last night whom I have not talked with before. He told me that there has been talk that a Jacob Snell was her father and that she had 2 brothers. He said one was named Fred and didn't know the other. So, last night I started following that lead. The Autauga census for 1840 has a Jacob Snell aged 40-50 with 3 boys and 2 girls. The oldest girls were between 10-25 which would be a few years younger than Adaline would have been. However, if Adaline was born in 1822 for sure, then she would have been 18 in the census and possibly out on her own even though not yet married to David Robertson. In the 1850 Autagua census, there is a Jacob Snell who is 67 married to a Lucretia who is 45. They list born in SC. They have 2 sons, Albert 22 and Adam, 11, both b in AL. I'm thinking Lucretia is wife #2 and Adam came from her. If you look on Ancestry, there is a Ferderick Jacob Snell born in SC in 1783 whch would make him 67 - bingo, same age as this 1850 one. Then in Coosa Co in 1860, there is an A. Snell who is 20 - this could be Adam. There is a J Snell age 76 living with him - Jacob I assume. Coosa is next door to Autauga Co. Adaline and David show up on the Autauga 1850 census under "Robinson." There are also 2 other Robinsons on that page, John and George. They are around David's age. I'm thinking they miswrote them all as Robinson and that those are David Robertson and his brothers. I do not know of any brothers for him as of now, so this is a guess. There is also an Elisha Robertson born between 1770-1780 from SC in the 1840 Coosa Co census, so I think we might be on a possible lead. My cousin told me about the fact that David may have left Adaline for another family and that's why we can't find him buried with her in Lamar Co and why she's living with her children. I had not heard that before! Cheri Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
