I've transcribed 99% of the original muster rolls. Only one handwritten copy of the original remains in the National Archives and is now so deteriorated that it can no longer be available to the public. ONE roll was copied from it in the late 1800s for the Archives in Atlanta, Georgia and with the exception of the very last of each muster roll which is virtually illegible, the rest is still in remarkable shape. It took me three years of diligent work to get it all transcribed but if you have names of ancestors who may have been in the Civil War but consisted of the older men (45+) and younger boys (-18), then perhaps I may have them on my muster rolls. The names are not in alphabetical order due to the fact that I copied the microfilm exactly as it was written down in late April/early May of 1864. http://www.geocities.com/csareserve1/index.html Jane Hi Jane, thank you for sharing your hard work. . . can perform a surname search by using the EDIT find command.
