    3. Karen, At about that time Prattville was the world's largest producer of Cotton Gins. A business that was begun by city founder Daniel Pratt. There was also a large textile mill in downtown Prattville. Unfortunately that mill, a downtown landmark, burned to the ground this past fall. You can find a history of Prattville and Autauga County that includes much about these mills at the Autauga Genealogical Society website.
