I don't find a T.J. Palmer in the 1850-60 Autauga Census. According to Confederate Military Service cards at the ADAH, T.J. Palmer was enlisted as a Private and discharged by promotion on Sept. 6, 1862. This was only a few months after the 15th Battalion was organized and nearly a year before it was consolidated and reorganized as the 56th. That's probably why he has no NARA reocrd for the 56th. His NARA record for the 15th Battalion may have some other information. You can order NARA records here.... http://history-sites.com/research/confedrecs.html It's interesting that the National Parks Service Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System has his rank in as Surgeon and rank out as Private. I wonder if that was transcribed backwards? Maybe he was transfered somewhere to hospital duty? Barry Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
