    1. [ALAUTAUG-L] Re: Mims ,CONNELL FAMILIES
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CONNELL, MIMS, JONES, BITTLES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pR.2ADE/242.463.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Did the following E-Mail get posted on this Board? <<E-Mail dated: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 To: [email protected] Subject: ALAUTAUG-D Digest V00 #12 ALAUTAUG-D Digest Volume 00 : Issue 12 Today's Topics: #1 [ALAUTAUG-L] Mims/Connell [courtney mims <[email protected]>] I am looking for information on ancestors of William Mims and Rebecca Ann Connell, who married on September 23, 1873 in Chilton Co, AL. I currently believe Rebecca to be the child of Sarah Miller and William H. Connell who married on February 25, 1845 in Autauga Co, AL. Sarah Connell is listed on the 1860 Autauga Co. Census with six children. Had William died? One of the children is a Rebecca, aged 4 years. On the 1870 Census, there is a Becky Ann Connell and four other Connell minors living in the household of William Y. and Emily Mims. Had Sarah died? Were the Mims related to the Connells? Were Rebecca and William cousins? I believe also that this Rebecca and William moved to Red Bay, Franklin Co, AL. I believe them to be the parents of: George Washington Mims born 1876, probably in AL; William Joseph Mims, Lee Alexander Mims, Eligh (is this perhaps Eli or Elijah?) Mims and James Alec Mims. George Washington Mims married Mattie Dora Jones in Monroe Co, MS, date unknown. This couple moved from AL through the MS counties of Monroe, Chickasaw, Webster and settled in the Valley Hill community of Carroll Co, MS. George's father, William apparently came to MS with this couple, when George bought land in Carroll Co, in 1903. Family history has it that Rebecca is buried somewhere near the Chickasaw Co, MS town of Okolona. William is buried in the White Church Cemetery in Carroll Co, MS in an unmarked grave. William Joseph Mims married Kattie Bittles. This couple had a son LeRoy who died as a child and is buried in a Cemetery in Tishomingo Co, MS. Lee Alexander Mims, known as Bud married Sallie, maiden name unknown. This couple moved to Texas, but returned to either AL or MS I don't know what happened to Eligh and James Alec. Sonya Mims
