    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jackson, Kincaid, Culver, Wingard, Thornton, Grier, Wise, Smith, Gray Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pR.2ADE/878.1 Message Board Post: Lisa, Whether or not "they" have a library depends on who they are. :-) Autauga County has been around for a very long time. And a visit to the web site of the Alabama Dept of Archives and History shows that they have on microfilm several Autauga County newspapers: * Autauga Mercury (Autaugaville), 1853 October 5 * Prattville Progress (Prattville), 1886 October 29 - 1996 December 28 Missing issues: 1985 January 1, 3; 1994 July - September * Autauga Citizen (Autaugaville), 1853 February 3 - 1882 July 27 * The Southern Signal (Prattville), 1877 October 25 - 1886 October 22 * Southern Statesman (Prattville), 1854 December 20 -- 1861 August 31 It seems likely that one of these could have obituaries. In addition, depending on location, it could be listed in a Montgomery paper, and those are probably at the archives or at a Montgomery library. Depending on your location, you could visit the Archives (it's right here in Montgomery, where I live) or perhaps look into interlibrary loan. For information, visit <http://www.archives.state.al.us/newsp/newsp.html> and find the Autauga link with the info above and links for info on interlibrary loan. = Steve =
