Your name hit a chord, with me. It probably has nothing to do with your family, but it is the only other time that I have heard the name. In my hometown of Calvert, Texas, there is a Spigner Elementary School. It used to be the African American high school, before integration. I grew up there, but don't know anything about who it was named for. There is a book on the county, but I don't believe there is much about the school. Newcomers to the little town, are clamoring to get rid of the old schools, which I don't think are really that old, and build new schools that look like other new schools in the county-a "nice", boring, metal, box like WalMart. (In fact, one town bought the WalMart that closed due to high theft, and turned it into a new high school.) They have two substantial schools that have character. Some repairs and upkeep would help, rather than millions on ugly new buildings. A lot of us believe, though we don't live there anymore! Just thought I would add what little I know about Spigner. By the way, on the county website (Robertson County TX gen web), they have it listed several places as "Spikner".
