    2. Dear John, I am close to finishing an article on John and Jennie English Montgomery . John was the son of William and Anne Burrows Montgomery of Buena Vista. After the War he lived in Autauga for some years and then migrated to TX. Jennie's family moved from Autauga to TX prior to 1860 and ended up in Bryan, TX where John and Jennie first lived after they left AL. Would you like to publish this in the Autauga Heritage? I also have turned up the family history of Anne Burrows Montgomery recently. Have received much information from the descendant of Stephen Burrows, Anne's brother. Kay Smith Gibbs. Descendant of William Montgomery. -----Original Message----- From: jkbrown2@knology.net To: alautaug@rootsweb.com; joy@mcdowellfaulk.com; hare1014@bellsouth.net; Carolineh@knology.net; genekerlin@charter.net; janekli@aol.com; ERogers96@aol.com Sent: Fri, 19 Jan 2007 9:28 AM Subject: [ALAUTAUG] AGS Meeting The Autauga Genealogical Society meets this Sunday, January 21st, 2 PM at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 178 E. 4th Street in Prattville. Headly and Headley are two of 17 variant spellings. The name was spelled different at different times. Starting with My GG grandfather born in 1818 the headys were able to read and write. I do not think his father could read or write but i am uncertain of that. If this fits let meknow if you need more info. In the 19th century Heddy was the preferred spelling until afterthe Civil War Headdy was also a variant used during the same period. On one census in 1870 the name is spelled 4 different ways in one county.

    3. Dear Stephen, I am also a descendent of Burkett Thompson of Autuaga Co, Al. His daughter, Idella P Thompson married William Wadsworth of Autauga. They were my ggrandparents. I am really interested in where you fit in the line. I have been researching Burkett for a long time and haven`t been able to prove who his parents were. Let me hear more from you and if I can share some things I will be glad to. I don`t think that Andrew Jackson Thompson was a son of Burkett but I haven`t been able to prove whose he is. Susan O`Neal was one of Burketts daughters. I think she married before Burkett died in 1852 or around that time. I do have copies of the estate records on Burket and will look them up if this would be of help to you. I hope we can work together and make some progress on this family. Burket was married to Lydia Mixon in Montgomery Co, Al in 1823. I do have a good bit on the Mixon line I could share. I had a visitor about three years ago from the Midwest came by to see me and we compared notes. He was also looking for info on Andrew Jackson Thompson. His address is edwardthompson@att.net. He will probably be glad to share with you. Sincerely, Pauline (Polly) Jackson Clarke, Birmingham, Al

I do believe that Burkett was born in S.C. and that the family came to this country in 1633 and were in Virginia and migrated south through Ga. into south Alabama. Some family members went to Indiana and settled there. I had a DNA done and found that Andrew was only one marker off. If you can help me in any way I would appreciate it. He could make anyone laugh with his laugh, he had beautiful blue eyes you could sink into. He always had a good story or a joke to tell you, and even if you'd heard it over and over he'd always tell it like you'd never heard it at all. He had never seen an enemy. | He was a brother, a son, an uncle, a grandson, a nephew. | Most of all, he was someone who couldn't be copied, one of a kind. | He was my brother. | | My brother lived in residential homes for more than twenty years of his life. In August 2006, he died at the age of 46 from what we were told was a heart attack. As with the loss of any loved one, the loss of my brother was hard to bear. On January 3, 2007, my family and I once again had to mourn the loss of my brother, and ask why we must go through the mourning once again. On that day, we found out that my brother's cause of death was not from a heart attack as we were previously informed. My brother died from the ingestion of a household cleanser. No longer was this a health issue concerning his death, it was a case of neglect on behalf of the residential home he lived in. | One of my brother's passions were his liquids and drinks. If he saw you with a soda, some kool aid, or a glass of tea then he needed one too. Today we have so many types of cleansers that are colored and made to smell good, anyone could mistake it for a colored drink. Residential homes like the one my brother lived in, as well as other shelters, nursing homes, and institutions are required by law to keep such chemicals and cleansers under lock and key. They are never to be left out on cleaning carts or other open surfaces where they can be reached and mistakenly ingested. These are harmful chemicals, with many other problems that can be caused by this neglect, to include the effects of cleansers in contact with one's skin or eyes. | I am sending this message to bring awareness to the neglect our society is treating these harmful chemicals with. Please, if you have family in any of the above facilities, or even children in daycare and school facilities, make sure the chemicals are being kept out of reach of those they can harm. The results that these chemicals can have when ingested or otherwise can be devastating; in this case our loss was permanent. I cannot bring my brother back, but with your help we can avoid this from happening again. Please forward this message and spread the awareness to as many people as you can, as it may save a life.
