I see them on that 1850 Autauga census. I saw somewhere (stupid me for not writing it down) that Jacob had 2 other children - Dorcus b 1815 and Henry b 1818 both in SC. Then I saw Albert 1828, Polly 1829, and Adam 1839 somewhere else all born in AL. Since there's a 10 yr gap between Henry and Albert, there must have been a first wife and then the move to AL from SC. I think it was someone's family tree who had this - BUT no sources. So I have no proof that Jacob and Lucretia are her parents, but they sure are tied together somehow. When I saw Adam and his family with Elisha and Sarah on the same page of the census in Wolf OK, I knew that Adam was either her brother or cousin. I just need to get the proof now! Have you found anything that proves this? I'd love to know what you've found! You can email me at CheriRobertson@gmail.com if you'd like - thanks! I did talk to a distant Robertson cousin last night whom I have not talked with before. He told me that there has been talk that a Jacob Snell was her father and that she had 2 brothers. He said one was named Fred and didn't know the other. So, last night I started following that lead. The Autauga census for 1840 has a Jacob Snell aged 40-50 with 3 boys and 2 girls. The oldest girls were between 10-25 which would be a few years younger than Adaline would have been. However, if Adaline was born in 1822 for sure, then she would have been 18 in the census and possibly out on her own even though not yet married to David Robertson. In the 1850 Autagua census, there is a Jacob Snell who is 67 married to a Lucretia who is 45. They list born in SC. They have 2 sons, Albert 22 and Adam, 11, both b in AL. I'm thinking Lucretia is wife #2 and Adam came from her. If you look on Ancestry, there is a Ferderick Jacob Snell born in SC in 1783 whch would make him 67 - bingo, same age as this 1850 one. Then in Coosa Co in 1860, there is an A. Snell who is 20 - this could be Adam. There is a J Snell age 76 living with him - Jacob I assume. Coosa is next door to Autauga Co. Adaline and David show up on the Autauga 1850 census under "Robinson." There are also 2 other Robinsons on that page, John and George. They are around David's age. I'm thinking they miswrote them all as Robinson and that those are David Robertson and his brothers. I do not know of any brothers for him as of now, so this is a guess. There is also an Elisha Robertson born between 1770-1780 from SC in the 1840 Coosa Co census, so I think we might be on a possible lead. My cousin told me about the fact that David may have left Adaline for another family and that's why we can't find him buried with her in Lamar Co and why she's living with her children. I had not heard that before! Cheri Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Bobbi, did you receive my apology I sent directly to you a few days ago? It was not my intent to "belittle" you. I assumed that perhaps you didn't have much, if any, experience on RootsWeb and therefore needed some more specific information, which I did not have time to give at the time you requested it. I had just arrived home after being out of town, was checking lots of email and wasn't paying attention that my response (to John) was going to the list. I realized after I saw my response that I should have chosen a better way to phrase my comments and that is when I apologized directly to you. Regarding the mention of changing the subject on the subject line - I was just saying that in one of my prior emails to you I had advised this - John's detail of the reason to do so was excellent. So, I apologize again to you and also to the list and will try to always remember to check the "To" line - to practice what I preach. It's all there, but it would have been better if you had changed the subject line to something more appropriate like the surname in question. Anytime you post a message that is different from the original thread, in this case "mail archives", it is best to change the subject line to the new topic. Otherwise the very person that needs to read that message may delete it without viewing it because they are not interested in the subject displayed. I know that I get a lot of email and if I see a whole string of messages come through I may look at the first and then if I am not interested in the subject matter, just delete all the other messages with re: that subject line without viewing them. I believe that the only way to reply to something in the archives is to reply directly to the sender. Items in the archives are no longer available on the current mail server so you cannot reply directly to the thread the way you do to a current message. The only way that you could send your reply to the list would be to copy and pass the original message into a new email which you could send to the list with your reply. John, Many thanks for your help. I have attempted to send a reply to the person who posted the info on the Autauga site on May 2, 2002, but the email was returned since the address of the person is no longer any good. I would like all of the info to be posted currently to the Autauga site since it contains info that others may not be aware of. Therefore, I am including a copy of the original posting in 2002 followed by my reply as will be seen below. Will all of the info automatically go to the Autauga site? Graves b: Jul 16, 1818 Autauga Co., AL d: Nov 22, 1846 Correction: The State of Alabama was not created until Dec. 14, 1819. The Alabama Territory (not the State of Alabama) was established in 1817 from the western half of the Mississippi Territory. Further, Autauga Co., AL was not created until Nov. 21, 1818 and it was created from Montgomery Co. of the Alabama Territory. Thus, one could state the following: Susan D. Graves was born in Montgomery Co., of the Alabama Territory in the part of the county was cut off to create Autauga Co. Your info: 2 Frank Taylor b: Aug 21, 1795 Autauga Co., AL d: Bef. 1836 Autauga Co., AL Correction: Am not sure if you meant to state that Frank Taylor was born in 1795, Autauga Co., AL. The Mississippi Territory was created May 7, 1798 and included what would eventually become the States of Mississippi and Alabama. As stated above, the portion that became the Alabama Territory in turn became the State of Alabama, but not until Nov. 21, 1818. The State of Mississippi was created on Dec. 10, 1817. In 1795 what would eventually become the State of Alabama was totally occupied by several Indian Tribes. Therefore, it appears your Frank Taylor may have been born in the State of Georgia. Your info: 2 Francis Taylor b: Nov 22, 1796 Autauga Co., AL d: Jan 16, 1873 Autauga Co., AL Correction: Regarding the birth place of Francis Taylor, refer to Frank Taylor above. Your info: .... +Joseph Lee b: Oct 9, 1791 m: Dec 16, 1812 Oglethorpe Co., GA Correction: Regarding the birth date of Joseph Lee, refer to Frank Taylor above. It appears he may have been born in Georgia. Your info: 2 Martha Taylor b: Jul 27, 1797 Autauga Co., AL d: 1873 Milton, Autauga Co., AL Correction: Regarding the birth date and birth place of Martha Taylor, refer to Frank Taylor above. Your info: 2 Ashberry Cooke Taylor b: Jul 23, 1812 Autauga Co., AL d: 1860 Mulberry, Autauga Co., AL Correction: Regarding the birth date and birth place of Ashberry, refer to Frank Taylor above. Anyone connected to these two families? Waldens OR Wallings as they became after leaving Alabama may have left between 1850-1860 and removed to Arkansas and then Texas. Rawlinson (Henry S.) removed to Dallas, Tx by 1900. I think we was married in Ala and later divorced. Remarried again in Texas. Ann P. From: "Bobbi Chase" <marlo7down@yahoo.com> To: <alautaug@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2007 5:59 PM You asked: I am new to this site and would like to reply to an archived subject, but don't know how to do that. Too, how do I get back to those archived emails? There are shortcuts but I'm showing you how to get there from the RootsWeb home page at http://www.rootsweb.com/ At the top of that page click on "Mailing Lists" Next it will ask you to find a mailing list - type in "Autauga County, Ala." Click on the top listing - "Autaug" The next page will tell how to subscribe and unsubscribe as well as search or browse the archives. Choose either. With "search" you can specify a name or keyword. With "browse" you can select a month and year and look at all the emails for that time period. To be sure you have found all the postings for the name or subject you are looking for you'll need to use "browse" since often the "subject" line of the email does not pertain to the query or information posted, as in the case with your question. Always check the subject line to be sure it reflects the content of your posting. This feature is probably one of the most overlooked one for research as a wealth of info can be found dating back to June 1988 for Autauga Co. Hope you find lots of info.
