The Sarah Wadsworth buried there is my gggrandmother. She was the wife of Daniel Wadsworth who migrated to Autauga Co, Al in the 1830`s from Moore Co, NC. I think that possibly Daniel is buried there without a headstone but I am not sure. The two Wadsworth children buried there were children of Daniel and his second wife, Martha Adelaide Norris who was the daughter of Patrick Norris. I descend from Daniel`s first wife Sarah (Sallie) Mathis. She and Daniel had son`s Malcolm and William. Both fought in the Civil War in the Prattville Dragoons. William was my direct ancestor. Thanks for your help. I still hope to go back there when the vines are dry and the snakes are not out and maybe I can find the Wadsworth graves on my next visit.

Karen, At about that time Prattville was the world's largest producer of Cotton Gins. A business that was begun by city founder Daniel Pratt. There was also a large textile mill in downtown Prattville. Unfortunately that mill, a downtown landmark, burned to the ground this past fall. You can find a history of Prattville and Autauga County that includes much about these mills at the Autauga Genealogical Society website. The address is http://www.rootsweb.com/~alags/ On the homepage, click on "History" highlighted within the text. My grandfather, John Arthur Bridges, was listed in 1910 census as "weaver in a mill". does anyone have general information on what cotton mills or textile mills were in Autauga County during that time period? Are there any websites you can recommend for information about the textile industry in Autauga County early 1900's? Thanks!

Thanks to all on the lists who helped me when I needed the locations to Towns and Counties. Thank you all who have emailed me on and off line. It never fails when I ask for one name, it opens up doors to other names and making new friends. These List makes friends out of strangers. Some times these Lists make cousins out of strangers. This is what the Lists are all about us helping one another. I'm in Georgia, if I can be of any help to anyone, please let me know. You all have certainly helped me and been there when I have needed you. I have taken pictures in my area of homes other people ancestors lived in and pictures of graves with names and dates in my area. And others have done this for me. Once I had a friend on one of the Lists who was a Waldrop ,( my maiden name) in Mississippi and he said he had passed a marker on a highway with the name Waldrop on it. He said he would take a picture of it for me I I would like for him to. I told him I would love to have it. I received the picture and for years it didn't meant anything to me. But a couple of years ago I found out what my gr gr grandpapa's name was, and he was listed on the marker. Rev. G. B. Waldrop was one of the Ministers mention on the marker in Pontotoc , Mississippi. If this friend on the list had not taken the time to stop and send me this picture I would not have headed in that direction of Mississippi.( I am so glad I kept the picture in my file.) The Lists have help me many times and I Thank each and every one of you . Sandra maiden name Waldrop Georgia

My Culver Great Great Grandparents are buried there, as are a number of their children. Chestnut Creek is at Cooper's, AL. Between Verbena and Clanton. This is Highway 31 North from Prattville. The Chestnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery is at Cooper's on a road that runs parallel to Hwy 31.
For the person who asked about Chestnut Creek, I just found this reference in: From the book, DEATH AND MARRIAGE NOTICES FROM AUTAUGA COUNTY, ALABAMA NEWSPAPERS 1853 - 1889, compiled by Larry E. Caver, Jr., page 11, THE SOUTHERN SIGNAL, Issue of May 8, 1885: "Andy COOPER of Cooper's Station, formerly known as Chestnut Creek, died a few days ago." Irma J. Roy
I have the following "tid bit" to add concerning the Liverman Family of Autauga County. The information comes from the first deed book here in Autauga County: "In consideration of the love and affection which I (Mathias LIVERMAN) bear to my grandchildren, James and Mary LIVERMAN, heirs and minors of Brown LIVERMAN, deceased, and Ellender PIERCE, being the daughter of the said Brown LIVERMAN... (he gave them slaves). Dated: november 8, 1821" Source: Autauga Co., AL Deeds & Mortgages, Book A, Vol. I, pg. 16-17
