Just a reminder about the Autauga Genealogical Society (AGS) trip to Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama on June 6-7. We will be leaving Prattville sometime on Friday, June 6, and will be returning sometime on Saturday evening, June 7. We will be car pooling as a group. Each person is responsible for making their own hotel arrangements. Most of us are going to stay at the Comfort Inn, 5917 Hy 157 N.W., Cullman, Ala. 35058, ph. (256) 734-1240. If any of you are planning to go, please let me know. We also need to know whether each person going will be driving their own vehicle or will be needing a ride with someone else. The best way to let me know is to send me an email. Looking forward to our trip. Larry E. Caver, Jr. ph. 358-5351

I am looking for him in 1850 in Benton county but have had no luck. He named his first son John (possibly Johnathan Jefferson). Could have been named after his father. I know he was in Alabama because all of his children were born there except John (SC). and the last child was born in 1854 in Alabama. William and Jane and family were in Mississippi in 1870. I am interested in the movement of Murph families from Orangeburg SC to Alabama. I believe my husband's Murph ancestors to be John Rudolph Murph (1777-1847) and his son, John Henry Murph (1804-1850s). They came to Autauga Co. AL from Orangeburg Co. SC at least by the time the 1840 census was taken. There are other Murph families in Perry Co. and Dallas Co. AL on the 1850 census. I am trying to prove the connection of brothers William Phillip Murph (1854-1912) and James Henry Murph (1857-1920) to the John Henry Murph family in Autauga Co. A William and James are on the 1860 census in that household, but their birthdates show as 1852. Other researchers say that John Henry Murph died in 1853. Family information and cemetery and census records show their years of birth as 1854 and 1857. I can't quite make the pieces of the puzzle fit. . . Both William and James came to Smith Co. Texas before 1877. Any information on the Murph family who came from Switzerland to Orangeburg Co. to Alabama to Texas would be most appreciated. Sue Clark [email protected]
