Surnames: Carpenter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pR.2ADE/876.1.1 Message Board Post: Mike, Thank You for the reply. I live in Phenix City, AL. I drove to the Archives in Montgomery in hopes of getting help & they have nothing on the Cemetery that they know of- but we know how that goes..... I did get directions & was able to locate it & I cannot find any tombstone. There are a lot of tombstones unmarked. I walked it 3 times. I thought my feet would fall off. "No Luck" The Church was having a sleep over for the teenagers & I did go inside & ask a few nice ladies who said "that the Church itself had no records of the burials." The only thing I have is a Death Cert that said he is buried at That Church. I went back to Montgomery Archives & looked for an Obit & did not find one. I was hoping for a mistake on the death cert. & maybe he was buried elsewhere, but "nothing" & I can't locate him & have no way of knowing which unmarked grave is his...... Thank you a lot. Lisa

I happen to live very close and grew up in the church. The cemetary is being kept and is still actively being used for burials. The church itself was established in 1832. It still has active members. To find the cemetery: From the I-65 Prattville / Pinelevel exit. Head north on US Hwy 31. At the light turn right on to county road 40. Go @ 1.5 miles and you will see the sign. This will be the second paved road to the right after your turn off of Hwy. 31. If you need any further assistance please contact me at above e-mail.

Had 4 children: Nancy, Thomas Alexander, Jane, and William Dixon (my husband's GGrandfather) b. 1854, m. 1853, Martha Ellen Malisia Nixon Green b. 1853. I found Martin and part of family in 1880 census in Elmore County, AL. Here I am stuck. I do know that Martin's father was born in SC and mother in Scotland (per census).. Wondered if you had any suggestions how I should pursue my search from here. Janet
