I will check with my brother. I do not know whether the cemetery we visited is the one you are looking for or not, but after you leave Autaugaville going west toward Selma there is a road to the right about four or five miles from town. There is a cemetery down that road on the left much in need of TLC very overgrown, and there is a marker for a Charlotte Zeigler there.

    3. Hi, Anne, My map of Autauga County lists the town of Mulberry, west of Prattville on Co. Road 14. If this isn't the right area, try Chilton County, the area along Mulberry Creek which runs SW from Isabella. There is a Mulberry Baptist Church off Chilton Co. 15. Direction to this Church and cemetery from CEMETERIES OF CHILTON From Maplesville State 22 East to State 191, left on CC 15, right for about 0.5 mile to church and cemetery on left. The original cemetery was across the road and southwest of the current site. It was up on the hill and was used until about the time of the Civil War. The earliest burial in this cemetery was in the year 1864. Hope this helps. Irma J. Roy At 11:47 AM 7/27/2006, Joanne Gokey wrote: >Where is this place located? I cannot find it on any map. I need a look up. I do not find what I need in the indices on the Autauga Web. I live a long way from Alabama would appreciate someone very much looking in probate index for the following reason: Allegedly Mary Susan sold her land near Mulberry to someone. This probably would have been after 1915. I need to know to whom the land was sold. Maybe I can determine who owns the land now so I can find the family cemetery. It is alleged that a lumber company now owns the land. Thank you for reply. Anne W Gokey

I have researched the 1850 and 1860 Slave Records. There I can find Slaveowner's names, along with ages and sex of their slaves. Also, the following site is good for the larger slaveholders: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajac/alautauga.htm Finally, I did a search of Slave Narratives that are online. I am looking for anecdotal records and mention of first names, specifically, "Daniel" and "Minnie" (both "Rogers" in the 1870 census) Are there any good sources that I am overlooking? Thanks, Lisa

    3. Does anyone have any family ties or more information on Mary M. or Dougal Carmichael who are buried in Pratt Cemetery in Prattville? Mary's headstone was recently located being used at a private residence in Prattville, and was restored near its proper place in the graveyard (a Magnolia tree has apparently grown over the original grave site.) Noah and Lucy had two sons, Luther Frances B1859 and Abner W. Tyus Cox B1868. Lucy died before 1870 (maybe in childbirth) and Noah married his second wife, Julia A.? in 1871. Lucy and maybe even Noah W. is believed to be buried in the Atchison Family Cemetery, in Chilton Co., near Maplesville, where her father Bennett Atchison (1797/1858) is buried. I have photo copies of many official documents that verify all of the above and much more. If you are interested, please email me and I will give you more details. jaatch@bellsouth.net

MILLS RODGERS was born in 1864 (ish) in Prattville. He married MAMIE (1880? - 1968) and had the following children : LUELLA [Hunter] born in Prattville in 1927 and later married a Tom Smith and lived in Cincinnati, OH. Amanda [Wyatt] Lizzie May [Jeffrey] Lottie Bell [Green] Calvin Rodgers Buddy Rodgers Mill's parents were, as best as I can figure from the census, DANIEL RODGERS , born 1818 in North Carolina and WINNIE (or MINNIE) RODGERS born in 1824 in Alabama. In 1880, Winnie was widowed , living with her sons Mills and Howard and her married daughter Unice (Eunice) Hall. Winnie listed as her father's place of birth as "Africa" and her mother's as "South Carolina". Does anyone have this family in their research? Should I try to connect this family with a Prattville slave owner from North Carolina named MILLS ROGERS? How do I do this, other than trying to match ages and sex of Daniel and Winnie with the 1860 & 1850 Slave Schedules? Thank you,

Incidentally, this is not the Murph cemetery at Dutch Bend where the Patriach, John Rudolph Murph is buried. Any info you may have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anne Gokey

I did a few surname searches online of folks who lived at Milton circa 1850 and they are included in the transcriptions with death dates that predate the flood, so this particular cemetery was not lost. However, I did not turn up any Goodwin's. If he is buried there, he could have had a wooded marker which was lost to the elements over time, or some other construction that my have crumbled and is buried beneath leaves & dirt. The cemetery appears to be located some distance off the main paved road through today's Milton Community. I'll try to locate it the next time I'm up that way. Barry
