Martha, have you been to a CMD program lately.say...in the last 3 years? If you have, you would've seen several police officers there stationed all around the monument and on both sides of the steps. I have personally approached them to thank them for their presence there. Gwen & I are in constant communication all the way up to the hour of the event with the Capital police and now also the Montgomery Police Dept. There have always been capital security there in years past but in 2015 we had to wait more than 20 minutes for them to arrive. I made two 911 calls myself and so did Leslie Kirk and other attendees did as well. In 2015 when Rose & her ilk came to the capital, I really believe she came to target me.she had just lost her battle with us in Selma and she still to this day cannot deal with that loss. I think the capital police were "detained' elsewhere on the grounds by design.if you understand what I am saying.Senator Hank Sanders is her husband.I have dealt with Rose & Hank & their imported miscreants for years.I know their tactics. Unfortunately, the young man who was with the mechanized cavalry that day fell right into their trap. He should have ignored them.but those were the same tactics that were used here in Selma in 1965!!! Provocation! MLK & Rosa Parks learned their Marxist tactics at the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle TN.founded by members of the Communist Party USA!!! If any of you would like to educate yourselves on the civil rights movement, please call me. I offer a package called "THE TRUTH-UNCENSORED".I had several 1965 original 1965 publications reprinted and compiled in this package that is loaded with the TRUTH about MLK and the civil rights movement. Again, ladies, are we gonna run underground to celebrate our heritage & our heroes and DEFEND our heritage to the choir in a basement? That is the one event I look forward to every year!! I love the ceremony and bagpipes, being at the Capitol where Jefferson Davis was sworn in, having UDC and SCV members together, and the roll call is always so moving! I immediately wrote a check for THAT!! A big THANK YOU to all who serve on this committee and who attend and help keep up this tradition that is so visually important as well. In fact, after years of saying I wanted to join the UDC but kept moving around for work after college, seeing an article about Confederate Memorial Day prompted me to finally join the UDC. It IS important!!! Lori Adams > On Jan 20, 2019, at 8:55 PM, Patricia S. I looked at the 2018-2019 budget and during that time the division was changing treasurers due to a loss of funds in the amount of $4,200 and moving of funds to cover the loss. In addition, as required, $8,000 was moved into savings CD. In the shuffle confederate memorial day was left off because 2017-2018 expenses exceeded $1,000 and the division expenses were such that this amount could not be covered and cover other necessary expenses. I have not seen a new division budget and do not know the status of funds for confederate memorial day. On grave markers, since I was not able to get to go over member questions that were submitted during our meeting yesterday, I will be emailing you the answers if I have not spoken with you already. The workshop packet you received yesterday included info. on ordering member markers; however, those forms were sent before I learned Newman Bros. recently went out of business. General is working diligently to iron out details with the new vendor and just as soon as they start taking orders for member markers again I will let the membership know through rootsweb, our facebook page, and with permission by putting the new information and order form on the Division website. There is no change to ordering iron crosses but only cast iron crosses are available (no bronze). He will paint them with rustoleum black or you can request they be sent unpainted. He said rust actually protects the cast iron. I am a traditionalist but as long as the cross is set neatly and the Grave Markers Placement Authorization form is signed by the family and cemetery there is currently no set protocol for painting or not painting them. As for credit on the yearly form, only UDC-approved markers qualify for ordering credit. However, as of now (and this may change), if you use a non-UDC approved marker but hold a UDC-approved marking ceremony ritual you can still claim credit for the ritual only. I met Josh at an SCV Camp meeting a couple weeks ago presenting on iron production in Alabama during the war, etc. of which his ancestors were involved. He also presented on Monuments Across Dixie and showed pictures of the 6’ marble statue made of his Confederate ancestor. Very cool. He had brochures and a marble sample, etc. Lori Adams > On Jan 18, 2019, at 10:30 AM, Lucy and Charles McGuffey <mcguffey@live.com> wrote: > > Is this for all of Alabama? > > Sent from my Verizon Motorola Smartphone > On Jan 18, 2019 11:08 AM, Faye Gaston via ALAUDC <alaudc@rootsweb.com> wrote: > Subject: 5 CONFEDERATE SOLDIER MONUMENTS TO BE ERECTED > > To: Members of the UDC Alabama DivisionFrom: Faye Gaston, Admiral Semmes 57, UDC Letitia Ross District Director > The Alabama Division SCV plans to erect five Confederate soldier monuments on PRIVATE property.
