YES, there are folks on this list who actually have time to sit down and ACTUALLY COUNT the number of committee members.I personally, was alerted to the fact that several committees were short of members before I received my Yearbook & Minutes. I too have all copies of Yearbook & Minutes from 1976 thru present, plus a few earlier that were given to me by earlier membersof my chapter. To the best of my knowledge, the 2018 issue is the first and only one that has not contained complete committees.I recently gave away some spare copies and still have a few duplicates. See: Page 221 - ARTICLE IV, OFFICERS OF THE ALABAMA DIVISION, Section 5 Presidents, part b.. I am very aware that there are members who do not believe in bylaws and have expressed the fact to me. I have always beenreferred to as a "stickler for bylaws" and I accept that as a compliment. If we follow bylaws, we have no problems. For many manyyears our Division Bylaws have been covered in twelve [12] pages......now forty-five [45] pages. That goes against all recommendationsof Robert's Rules of Order. Of course I purchased a Division Yearbook. I've read it from cover to cover, which I dare say is probably unusual but it's always my practice. I have an almost complete set of all 23 Division Yearbooks from the nearly 24 years I've been a member. I lack only one book and would like to obtain that one sometime if anybody has old books available for donation or purchase. I can't remember which year it was in the mid 90's but will check on that and post again one of these days in hopes that someone might have the one I need. I've served on many of the Division Committees at one time or another and, of course, was ex-officio member of all Division Committees during my term as Division President. Increased membership has always been one of my highest priorities and interests. My main interest now and during the past year has been Organization of New Chapters. In 2000 and in 2003, I personally organized two Chapters and during the term I served as Division Registrar, I processed three new Chapter packages-- including the Chapter of which you are a Charter member. Also, I have served on a General Organization of New Chapters Committee. I would agree to serve on the current Organization of New Chapters Committee in our Division. You’re right, Lori, and it’s wonderful that our UDC sisters are so understanding, as we are of them. Most of us have a full life outside of UDC and willingly carve out time to volunteer in our chapters, districts, and Division to further the aims of our organization, and enjoy the dear fellowship of our Southern sisters. -Betty > On Feb 19, 2019, at 7:35 PM, LA <analytigal@bellsouth.net> wrote: > > Thank you Betty! I dont want to grow old and be mean-peace and joy is a serene life-we should all be thankful and proud for those chosen to lead our organization. Seems that is all some Want to do-sure makes them look little and dont have any good thoughts in their life but to belittle others. Actually we should all feel sorry for these people cause they must be very unhappy and have reached this phase of their life. So SAD! Well said, Martha. All are human and often move at a pace that may, or may not, satisfy others who are not presently 'walking in our shoes'. We are all volunteers here, hopefully dedicated to working together to preserve the honor and the heritage of our beloved Confederate Ancestors. > Such nebulous attacks on the Division President, are surely no way to 'win friends & influence people' either. As the Division President, Suzanna does a fantastic job! She is full of energy, and is capable of showing love for her heritage in whatever organization she chooses to be a member of; and she knows how to get her job for AL-UDC done quickly and efficiently. So, let's give her credit where it's due, and not strive with each other, but ultimately work toward the positive goal of strengthening her role and thus the success she contributes to being the President of this Division. > In the Bonds of the South, > Martha Smith > Pres. Suzanna, Have you or Betty sent out a complete list of Alabama Division Committees since I asked about this in a post on this Rootsweb list several days ago. If so, I must have missed it.
