    3. Flight delays getting home from Winter Board in Richmond because of the horrid weather. We watched the weather radar at the airports. I learned of the tornadoes when I finally got home. My heart is with all of those affected... I had heard 14 fatalities. Am heartbroken to wake up and read the death toll increased further... Are any of our daughters directly impacted? 2. LA
    3. Good evening ladies, Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I just wanted to let those of you who ordered shirts but did not attend Winter Board know that they will be sent to you very soon if arrangements have not been made. If you sent me an order form and check SINCE Winter Board please make sure you checked the sizing guides for the shirt style(s) you ordered and let me know if you need to make a change. We want you to enjoy them! For those who would still like a tee shirt to help the Heritage Protection Fund (aka the defense fund) or just to wear, each style is $25 and we will be making our second and final order the 1st week of April to be delivered or mailed in April. So, the final deadline to order (for me to receive your order form and check made out to UDC Alabama Division) is April 1st. For more information you can ask me to email the info. to you or you can pull it up on our new Division website and find it under the ‘In The News’ section. Thank you for helping out our Heritage Protection Fund to be used for such things as to clean and repair our monuments, to install new markers, etc. Lori Adams

    1. [ALAUDC] FW: Vandals Torch Gen, Lee Statue, But It Looks Like They Picked the Wrong Gen. Lee
    2. Patricia S. Godwin
    3. MORE attacks! Pat G. Vandals Torch Gen, Lee Statue, But It Looks Like They Picked the Wrong Gen. Lee By Malachi Bailey <https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/author/malachi-bailey/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=wcjemail&ff_campaign=CAN&ff_content=2019-02-22> Published February 21, 2019 In recent years, liberals have been determined to destroy pieces of American history by vandalizing Confederate statues, but some might not know their history well enough to vandalize the right pieces. Vandals in North Carolina set aflame a statue of “General Lee” earlier this month, but it wasn’t a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The statue in Dunn, North Carolina, honors Maj. Gen. William C. Lee, who is described by The Washington Post <https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/02/21/jerk-punks-torched-statue-general-lee-it-honors-wwii-veteran-not-confederate-leader/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.ab7bb5f7afb3> as a “hometown hero” and “widely respected” military leader of World War II. Mark Johnson, curator of the General William C. Lee Airborne Museum in Dunn, was in disbelief as he told WNCN-TV <https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/confederate-monument-vandals-take-aim-at-wrong-lee-statue-in-dunn/1794689102> about the vandalism. “Never even thought it would affect us in any way at all,” Johnson said. The vandals left no explantion for their behavior, the Post reported, but Johnson said he thinks they mistook William C. Lee for the Civil War general <https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/media-trump-racist-misleading/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=wcjemail&ff_campaign=CAN&ff_content=2019-02-22> . “This is not a Civil War museum and this is not Robert E. Lee,” Johnson said. “This is General William C. Lee from United States Army Airborne from World War II, so I was hurt and surprised that somebody would actually do this.” And if they were trying to attack a descendant of Lee, they were still barking up the wrong tree. As far as the museum know, according to the post, the two generals are not related. Gen. William Lee helped plan the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany on Europe’s Western Front. The general’s history is ironic considering vandals of statues often identify as “anti-fascist <https://www.westernjournal.com/confederate-statue-torn-non-student-radicals/> .” The vandals covered the statue in flammable liquid and set it on fire, but thankfully, the statue only suffered “minimal damage” and the local stone mason will do some repairs. “He’s gonna come over and try to steam clean it and use a special chemical to try to get that into the pores in the marble,” Johnson explained. “We hope it will clean up, there’s minimal damage to the base, so we hope it will all come out but it will take a lot of work.” But other statues haven’t fared so well. One of the most recent examples happened in August, when left-wing protesters at the University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill campus toppled a statue <https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/protesters-allegedly-tore-unc-confederate-statue-slammed-consequences/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=wcjemail&ff_campaign=CAN&ff_content=2019-02-22> of a Confederate soldier called “Silent Sam.” UNC’s Silent Sam will now be housed in a new $5 million “history and education center,” where it will be out of sight from triggered liberals, NBC News <https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/unc-will-house-silent-sam-confederate-statue-new-5-million-n943376> reported in December. The Silent Sam controversy was last year, but it looks like the far-left isn’t done waging its war on American history considering the recent attack on Dunn’s statue of World War II hero General Lee. It was bad enough when left-wing vandals were only tearing down pieces of Civil War history, but now they’re even targeting historical figures that shouldn’t be controversial. <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=emailclient&utm_term=icon> Virus-free. <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=emailclient&utm_term=link> www.avast.com --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

    2. Cyndi Himes
    3. AL Division UDC Ladies, First, thank you to all who have already given their pop tabs and postage stamps to benefit the Ronald McDonald house and our wounded Veterans who are going through rehabilitation in Arizona. However, most items do not have your chapter's name on any of the packages. Which makes it very difficult to give credit where credit is due. Also, ladies please count your postage stamps and put that number on the outside of your package, this would make things so much easier for all who handle these items. I would suggest you use what ever size zip lock bag that will fit the items that your turning in. We appreciate all that you wonderful ladies do for our CofC members-but let me tell you, they don't want to count these stamps and neither do I. In the future please think about how you package and label your items, this will not only help us but help you get credit for all your hard work. May God continue to bless the CofC! Cyndi Himes
