    3. Ladies, I have no idea if or how many Alabama Division members can still access this website.I do see where Pat Godwin supplies information at times. As most have learned there is what I refer to as, "The Private Site." because there arejust over 200 members who can access that site and it seems to be just for a selectfew and for information that they do not want to be shared with everyone. I sent a message to that site this morning and it was immediately removed.  It didactually make it to the site but someone made sure it was taken down before it couldbe read by many interested members. My one complaint was that as an ex-President of the Division, according to our bylaws,I should receive an invitation to each of the nine district meetings.  I along with someothers received only three invitations this year. See ARTIClE VIII, Section 3, last three lines. My second complaint was the fact that in several photos from the Forney District meetingon 22 February the Battle Flag was displayed front and center and taller than all others.  This is never done. Out of approximately 80 photos, I did not see a US Flag anywhere.  This is not what UDC is. There were members of the Forney District who were not evennotified there was a meeting. In my forty-three years of membership in the Alabama Division, I was from day one taughtto never associate with the SCV and now there are chapters who include them in mostactivities. The SCV has caused many of the problems with our UDC monuments.  We are losing members and current leadership is refusing to allow new chapters to beorganized. Our Alabama Division now has the lowest number of members since beingorganized. At present, there are about 1400 members when we had double that numberjust a few years ago. UDC is very special to me and I honor my forty-eight (48) proven ancestors. Mary Ellen Ahlstrom, ex-President 1988-1990Registrar General 1990-1992

    1. [ALAUDC] FW: UPDATE on Senate Bill 127
    2. Patricia S. Godwin
    3. Ladies, please make your calls tomorrow morning! Below you will find the senators’ contact info! We are the remnant! Confederately yours, Pat Dear Pro-Confederate supporters, Good news! Amended Senate Bill 127 passed Alabama's Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, Tuesday, 2-25-20, by a vote of 9-1. SB127 was amended to remove all language that negatively affected our Confederate Veterans' Monuments over 40 years old. The $10,000 per day fine was reduced to a $5,000 per day fine. Nevertheless, this still amounts to over a $1.8 million per year fine for a city or county that disturbs, alters or removes a Confederate Monument, unless and until the city restores the Monument to its original condition and place. Restoring a Monument to its original condition is NOT in the current Law, so this addition is a big plus for us. A $5,000 per day fine, which amounts to over a $1.8 million per year fine, if the Monument is not restored, should be enough to deter almost all cities and counties in Alabama from attacking our Confederate Veterans' Monuments and is MUCH greater than the current Law's one time fine of $25,000 for disturbing our Monuments, WITHOUT any restoration being required. After passing the Governmental Affairs Committee, Senate Bill 127 was placed on the Regular Order Calendar in the Senate Rules Committee. For Senate Bill 127 to be voted on and passed by the entire Alabama Senate, the Members of this Senate Rules Committee MUST first vote FOR Senate Bill 127 to be placed at the TOP of their Special Order Calendar. Therefore, TODAY, please e-mail and/or call the Members of the Senate Rules Committee (below) and tell them in your own words to place Senate Bill 127 at the TOP of the Special Order Calendar quickly for a vote by the entire Senate. Senator Jabo Waggoner, Chairman jabo.waggoner@alsenate.gov <mailto:jabo.waggoner@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0892 Senator Clay Scofield clay.scofield@alsenate.gov <mailto:clay.scofield@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0876 Senator Gerald Allen gerald.allen@alsenate.gov <mailto:gerald.allen@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0861 Senator Steve Livingston steve.livingston@alsenate.gov <mailto:steve.livingston@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0858 Senator Jim McClendon jimmcc@windstream.net <mailto:jimmcc@windstream.net> (334) 261-0789 Senator Tim Melson tim.melson@alsenate.gov <mailto:tim.melson@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0773 Senator Greg Reed greg.reed@alsenate.gov <mailto:greg.reed@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0894 Senator Jimmy Holley jimmy.holley@alsenate.gov <mailto:jimmy.holley@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0845 Senator Arthur Orr arthur.orr@alsenate.gov <mailto:arthur.orr@alsenate.gov> (334) 261-0758 Plywood still covers and desecrates our Confederate Veterans' Monument in Birmingham, today, as it has for over 2 years, since August 2017, because Republican Legislators failed to protect our Historic Monuments. Birmingham just paid the one time $25,000 fine and then left the plywood up, covering our Confederate Monument. Therefore, Senate Bill 127 MUST be passed by the Alabama Senate and House, as soon as possible, before more Confederate Monuments are desecrated. Please call and/or e-mail the above Members of the Senate Rules Committee, TODAY! The "war over slavery" lie is the reason our Confederate Monuments are being attacked. When this lie is exposed to the public and politicians, the assaults will end. Remember, there is NO proof of Lincoln ever declaring his Tax War was over slavery. Lincoln consistently declared his Tax War was “over taxes only and not slavery, at all.” Birmingham officials and others have hated our Confederate Veterans for NO reason. In his First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861, Lincoln declared: “I have no purpose to interfere with the institution of slavery. I believe, I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.” (Paragraph 4) “The power confided to me will be used to collect the duties (a 200% tariff on steel products) and imposts (import taxes); but beyond what may be necessary for this, there will be no invasion, no using of force against the people anywhere.” (Paragraph 21) Even in his fake Emancipation Proclamations on September 22, 1862 and January 1, 1863, Lincoln refused to free General Grant’s four slaves he owned during the Tax War and gave the Southern States three months to return to the Union, pay his brutal tax and keep their slaves. None did. Over 35,000 Alabamians died and 20,000 were maimed for life out of the 122,000, who defended Alabama from Lincoln's tax collectors. Please forward this e-mail to other pro-Confederate supporters you think will contact these Senators to pass SB 127. Thank you, Roger Broxton 25 year member SCV Covington Rifles Camp 1586 President Confederate Heritage Fund Text of SB 127 as now amended http://alisondb.legislature.state.al.us/ALISON/SearchableInstruments/2020RS/PrintFiles/205566-3.pdf News about SB 127 https://www.wbrc.com/2020/02/12/senate-panel-discusses-confederate-monuments-bill/ News about SB 127 https://www.alreporter.com/2020/02/12/bill-to-raise-penalties-for-disturbing-a-historical-memorial-to-10000-a-day-is-carried-over/

Confederately yours, Pat Folks, I spoke with Senator Allen today who is the bill's sponsor. He explained the bill to me and said ONLY three things are changing. 1) The new bill will allow for old, unserviceable buildings to be removed (such as schools), but when rebuilt they MUST maintain the original name and in certain cases erect a monument to the individual that the building was named after. The fine applies if they do not. 2) Concerning the 90 day waiver- the way that the original bill read was that IF THE COMMITTEE DID NOT MEET in a 90 day period, then the permission to remove a monument took effect automatically. This was a HUGE loophole in the original bill that will be stricken out if the amendments pass. Under the new provisions, they MUST have the permission of the committee, or the fine applies. 3) Rather than a ONE TIME fine of $25000, the new fine is $5,000 PER DAY! These amendments do NOT change the 40 year rule, and thus our monuments over 40 years old CANNOT be taken down under any circumstances. I hope this clears up some of the information out there. The SCV members have a big part on our day at the Capitol. It is great that the SCV and UDC can work together to keep our true history alive.  Thank you, Cyndi, granddaughter, and Gwen for representing UDC at this annual SCV celebration of two great Confederate generals.
