People took in children from other families quite often, even when the parents were still alive. It was often due to finances, having too many mouths to feed at home. Alot of the time, the male children were taken in, in order to help the hosting family with chores. My own grandfather was raised by a family who had no sons, only one daughter. Your best bet would be to look in the census for them, I think, under the BURNS name. Good luck in your search. Ruthie --WebTV-Mail-1014032127-14691--
