    3. Please folks, don't pursue a roll call of surnames at this time. It creates an enormous amount of email that usually causes a lot of unsubscriptions. You are much better served by posting individual email messages regarding each of your surnames (that have roots in the 10 counties that this list covers) with some information regarding that family (dates, places, forenames, relationships, etc.) so that that *information* can be archived on the list. Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT to remember to put the SURNAME in the subject line. Subject lines are very important tools when communicating genealogical queries via email. They very often make the difference between whether someone reads or doesn't read your message. One more thing, while I have your attention. It is standard genealogical format to write dates in dd/mm/yyyy format. For instance, today is 6 May 1999. If you write 5/6/1999, many folks won't know if you mean May 6th or June 5th? Only Americans write dates with slashes in the mm/dd/yyyy format. Subscribers to this list live in Canada and Europe as well. Bottom line, please write out your dates like 6 May 1999. (I know I'm beginning to sound like your mom, but I'm just trying to make things easier and to increase the possibilities of you making connections) Thanks for your attention. Keep on postin'! -- Regards, Kevin Sellew in Mobile, Alabama E-Mailto:[email protected] *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Listowner of MOBILE BAY AREA ROOTS [AL-MOBILEBAY] http://www.siteone.com/clubs/mgs/mailroom.htm *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
