My gg grandfather, Michael H Melton, is thought to be the son of a Michael Melton who acquired land in 1797 on the south margin of Tensaw Lake. In 1805 his heirs were claiming the land. I have a map from a book showing the location of his land, but the writing is so tiny it is illegible. Would this land be in what is now Baldwin Co, AL? Would these original records be in the county or would they be in the Alabama state archives or somewhere else? Can anyone help me? Thank you.
