I posted some time ago regarding information that I found on my grandfather's birth certificate. It states that he was born at the N/E Corner of Claiborne/Monroe in Mobile County. A very kind soul sent me a map from 1856 that shows that these two streets do indeed intersect. They do not now. I also had several other suggestions about obtaining information. Unfortunately, I investigated all of them and have been unable to obtain any additional information. I was wondering if anyone has access to records that would show if the N/E corner of Claiborne/Monroe was a residential area or a hospital. Does anyone have access to the University of Alabama library? Supposedly, they have a phone book there from 1908 (the year of my grandfather's birth). Is this something that would be easy for someone to do? Is anyone, by chance, on their way to the UoA for research and would mind looking up something in a 1908 phone book? Thank you all so much in advance for helping me find this important piece of information. Diane in California Researching: Allen, Hasselvander, Clark, Collins, Davidson/Davison, Rigler, Hoffman
