Hello... I am the Webmaster and Administrator of the Mobile & Bay Shore Railroad Historical Society, based in Mobile, Alabama. Our main function is the documentation and publication of resources about this short, 39-mile-long branchline of the Mobile & Ohio which ran from Prichard to Bayou la Batre. In the course of our research, we have run across instances of several stations and flag stops where the name changed during the railroad's 40-year lifetime. One such name change is FROSHINN, which is of German origin, and means "sense of glad". Modern maps, at least from the 1920's onward, refer to this area by the name known today - LAURENDINE. This is known to be a family name dating back into the Civil War period. Our society is looking for information about both names, when the change took place, and what the reason was for the change. If anyone can provide some of this information, we would appreciate it. We also invite everyone to take a look at our website. The address is noted below. -------------------------------------------------------------- Craig McGraw Webmaster, Mobile & Bay Shore RR HS URL: http://bayshorehs.tripod.com/index.htm EMail: bayshore@garbersoft.net
