I am new to the list. I am researching CLARKE family mainly of Marengo and Perry County. However, I just found in the will of Henrietta M.H. Clarke, reference to a daughter Virginia. In probate records dated 17 MAR 1871, Virginia is listed as the wife of Henry F. WILSON and residing in Mobile. Henrietta's probate records in 1866 list a M.V. Clarke, so Virginia may be a middle name. In the 1870 census in 8 W. Mobile I found a Henry Wilson, age 31, Mary V. (30), Henry (2), and Richard (1). I have no idea if this is a connection or not. Henrietta M. H. Clarke was married to Robert CLARKE. Children were: Roberta Maria CLARKE Ruffin b. 1829, Robert G. (Gray?) CLARKE, Virginia CLARKE, and Andrew Becket CLARKE. Order of birth unknown. This family was known to reside in Dayton, Marengo Co. AL in the late 1830's. The family resided in Uniontown, Perry Co. AL after 1839 and Robert, Henrietta and Andrew are believed to have died in Perry Co. Robert Gray CLARKE b. abt. 1834, resided in Clarke County, AL. Roberta died in Faunsdale, Marengo Co. AL in 1909.
