Hi; Dose anyone know anything about arranged marriages in the late 1800's? My Great-grandparents marriage was arranged, and I haven't hardly a clue why! Before the wedding they saw each other in her parent parlor. She was 17 and he was almost 27! They lived in Bayou La Batre, Mobile Co. his parent where Acadian (mother, Armenia Grelot) and English (father, George Smee) and I am unsure about her side (father, Angus Crenshaw and mother, Mary Goleman).
