Catherine, Death records were required starting in 1820 and Birth records in 1870. There was some difficulty enforcing these new laws because many women were attended by midwives for births. There are books with some of the old death records. The Catholic Church records for baptisms date back much earlier than these required registrations. There are also Mortality Schedules going pretty far back for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Mary
