    3. Sorry, I accidently sent this straight to Jabe. Anne C. ====================================== Jabe or anyone else, MapBlast didn't find Old Shell Rd., but I did see a group of streets (?) out to the west of town, called Austill Ave., Lane, and Place., just above C.R. 70. Could that possibly be the old Jeremiah AUSTILL property? His wife, Margaret Ervin EADES HAILS/ AUSTILL [ca.1805-1890], was the sister of my 2nd great grandmother, Mary Ann EADES GULLETT/ ERVIN/ GRAYSON. Until retiring to the family plantation in Clarke Co., they lived in "Spring Hill, near Mobile" and I've read that Margaret taught at the college. Jere was known as the hero of the "Indian Canoe Battle" in the Creek War, so I thought someone might know where he lived. 1. Martha Belle Isle Cooksey
    2. Pat Hansen
    3. Hello. I am anxious to find if anyone knows or can give me contact information (if she is still living) for this lady, as she is apparently a descendant of the HOWARD line of my mother's family. I possess a letter from her mother, Mrs. C.E. Belle Isle, written from Atlanta in 1945. This letter outlines burying her cousin Fannie C. Howard in her parents' plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Alabama when she passed on. I found a friend of hers in Atlanta who said that Martha married Buster Cooksey, who passed away some years ago, and then moved to Mobile. Pat Hansen Phoenix, AZ

    2. The names are all correct for these cemeteries. Magnolia Cemetery is one of the oldest in Mobile and is located in the downtown Mobile area, off Virginia St., I believe. Pine Crest Cemetery is on Dauphin Island Pky, just off I-10 in Mobile and is a fairly old cemetery. Mobile Memorial Gardens is on Three Notch Rd in Tillmans Corner area about 8-10 miles from downtown Mobile on I-10. Earlene Lyle

    1. Alvarez genealogy
    2. Pasquel and Lousie CECHERN (or CACHERO) had at least three children, one being Don Diego ALVAREZ (b.?, d. 1819 in an Indian attack). He came from Oviedo, Asturia, Spain in 1780 with a land grant to settle in the Mobile (Saraland) area. (I was always told that his mother was a lady-in-waiting to the Queen of Spain. “Don” is a title similar to the English “Sir”.) Records of the Basilica of hte Immaculate Conception show that “Don Diego Alvarez of Oviedo, Spain and now of Chickasabougue” married “Barbara FERNANDEZ Vecina de la Medina” on January 16, 1796. Her parents were Pedro and Marian BACOY (or BAHEY). Their children were: Antoine, Joaquin and Joaquina (twins), Miguel, Brunita, Diego (b. 22 June 1800/d. 17 Apr. 1859), Manuel, William Vincente (d. 1895 in Mobile), Irene, Marcelite, Mary (or Marie) Magdealine. The first five children died as children from yellow fever. (Manuel married Fannie POTTER; William married Jane MORRIS; Irene married Lois GERRINGER; Marcelite married Thomas VAN FOSSEN; and Mary married Daniel Mason PRICHARD.) Diego married Appouline Hypolite (or Pauline Hypolette) WEATHERS (b. 22 Aug 1804/d. 2 Dec. 1888). (Father was Henry Weathers, who settled in area in 1811. Rumored to have married an Indian princess.) Their children were: Gertrude (b. 14 Dec.), Henry (d. 1894), Joseph, Alexander (b. 1831, d. 1858), Louisa (b. 1832), Emmanuel Angelo (b. 1834, d. 12 Aug. 1855), Laura (b. 20 Aug. 1836 or 7, d. 9 Mar. 1902), Thomas Vincent, Barbara (b. 1839), Frances D. (b. 17 Apr. 1842). Henry married Sarah HARTLEY, Joseph married Martha BRANNON, Alexander married Cecile MERINO, Louisa married AMos TOWLE, Emmanuel died as a young man, Laura didn’t marry, Thomas married Amelia Frances MOORE, Barbara didn’t marry, Frances married Eugene LA COSTA. Most of this came from a book called "People Along Bayou Sara." I would offer look-ups, but we've recently moved and I can't find the book.
