Listers, I've read on the Rootsweb/Mobile County webpages that death certificates for out of staters like me must be mailed. No problem, but I also read there that the DCs start at 1906. And I am also assuming that 1906 is for the county -and- the state. However, the AL state Dept of health pages show more than once that they started in 1908. I'm after one from 1907. Which one is correct, and can I really -not- mail my request to Mobile County ??? Regards, LeRoy Wheeler, Maryland
Does anyone know the location or any other information concerning this Confederate Military Hospital?
Thanks! Could that address be considered Whistler? Not being there I don't have a clue, but will try with one of the available map tools..... Thanks again! LeRoy Wheeler, Maryland
Folks, I am brand new to this list, and Alabama. I do have a great grandfather who died in a Whistler TB hospital/sanitorium in 1907, and wonder where it is/was; and also where I could read/learn about it. Any help or direction will be welcome! LeRoy Wheeler, Maryland

I am looking for a census look-up and hoping that this is the right list! So sorry if it isn't! Perhaps I can be directed to the right list if I am wrong. I am looking for my grandfather's family. They are believed to still be living in Mobile, Alabama in 1910. The name would be Jesse Allen. His wife's name was Rosa Lee. There should be one child, my grandfather, Fred, who would have been under 2 years old. Thank you, Diane
PLEASE PASS THIS NOTICE TO THE PERSON AT YOUR SOCIETY RESPONSIBLE FOR PURCHASING REFERENCE BOOKS Hello, The 1910 Federal Census was not completely indexed by the Census Bureau. They only indexed 21 states, leaving 27 states out in the cold. Genealogists looking for ancestors in one of those 27 states are confronted with a laborious page-by-page search of the original census records. Until now!! Census4all of Arlington-VA has spent thousands of hours transcribing three of these unindexed states: Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont. Census4all has asked Pellien Research to distribute these transcriptions in HARD COPY to libraries, genealogical societies, educational institutions and individual genealogy researchers. These transcripts are NOT being distributed on CD-ROM and are not available from any other source. The multi-volume sets include the following number of people: - 1910 New Hampshire Census: 363,851 people out of a total population of 430,572 - 1910 Rhode Island Census: 366,639 out of a total population of 542,610 - 1910 Vermont Census: 229,320 names out of a total population of 355,956 Note: the missing records are due to the fact that the Census Bureau microfilm copies have very poor quality. Many entries were unreadable or missing. The CENSUS4ALL transcriptions are the best possible under the circumstances. The original census schedules have been destroyed by the Census Bureau. The books are high quality, built to library reference book standards, with 50# paper and are for sale at the following cost: New Hampshire: $180.00 per set Rhode Island: $180.00 per set Vermont: $140.00 per set All 3 States: $450 (a 10% discount) Please complete a purchase order and mail it with your check to: Pellien Research 3145 S. Stafford Street Arlington, VA 22206
Hi Group, Need a little help. Does anyone know whether John Marshall TILLMAN's wife, Nancy Parnell (d. ca. 1920), was the daughter of Sidney Jackson PARNELL? If so, would love to know a source that would document that connection, and I would love to contact any descendants. Thanks for any assistance. Margaret

Annie Powel [with one l] was born in GA in 1814. She married John C. King in Laurens County, GA on 29 Aug 1844. They moved to Baldwin County, AL between 1850-1860. I am hoping that Annie was related to the other Powells that show up in the Baldwin County records. If you have any information about the Powell family line, I would appreciate hearing from you. Henry
Mary, would those Mortality Schedules for Mobile go back as far as 1839? And are they on line? : ] Also, is there any way to find out if my Capt. John EADES (of Wilcox Co.) who died in Mobile was buried there and his standing stone in Wilcox Co. is only a memorial one (it says he died 20 April 1839 Mobile) - or whether he really does rest in Wilcox Co.? Was that a possibility in those times? I've also wondered if Jeremiah and Margaret AUSTILL took him to back to his old original plantation in Clark Co., which they later moved to from Mobile and where Jere is buried. Catherine, Death records were required starting in 1820 and Birth records in 1870. There was some difficulty enforcing these new laws because many women were attended by midwives for births. There are books with some of the old death records. The Catholic Church records for baptisms date back much earlier than these required registrations. There are also Mortality Schedules going pretty far back for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Mary
Hi, I am searching for any information regarding the names of GAULTRE, MOSEL, and COTTER I know that Marie Louise Elizabeth GAULTRE COTTER married Pierre MOSEL and they lived in, or near Mobile, Al where they became the parents of Claude MOSEL, born October 20, 1727, Bernard MOSEL, born September 23, 1730, Jeane Pierre MOSEL, born April 25, 1733 and Marie Elizabeth MOSEL, born August 11, 1739. The mother, Marie Louise Elizabeth died in their "habitation on the Tombigbee River in Louisiana" November 15, 1742, and the father, Pierre MOSEL died during a massacre of a group of settlers by the Choctaw Indians on October 23, 1747. I would like to find out more of their children who were related to a family named Gaultry/Gaultree (also other spelling variations) known to be living in New Jersey during the 1700s. I also am interested in knowing more of the region and history of Mobile during these early days of settlement, and would appreciate any leads to websites and other information sources. Thankyou very much. Sheila Gaultry Bates
Interested in finding information on an Ephraim DAVIDSON, b. 1770-1780, found in Mobile Co, AL in 1830 and 1850. Married to a Susan KILPATRICK 18 May 1811 in Wilkinson Co, MS. Possibly a second marriage. Did this Ephraim have a daughter named Eliza, born ca 1805 in Louisiana?
