    2. I am also looking for a grave in Citronelle. I do have a list of owners of lots in Pinecrest Cemetery of Citronelle which was sent to me from Citronelle Memorial Library. Unfortunately, it lists only lot owners and not individual graves. Pinecrest is an old cemetery and the list mentions Potters Field block 35 & 36 and another area where yellow fever victims were buried. I would be happy to check the list to see if the last name you are looking for appears. 1. [AL-MOBILEBAY-L] Research Information
    2. I saw this post on another list and thought those of you on this list might appreciate the information as much as I did: Research resources, some good ones: A good WFT CD "look up" site, done by volunteers so be patient. Suggest you view, take notes, get organized and return to post simple specific requests on marriages, births, etc. to an email addresses listed in that box: <http://genweb.net/~gen-cds/cdwftlist.html> Genforum surnames message boards [if you type in the surname AFTER the ".com/" it goes quickly] Know many of you have been there, but go back and repost your "most wanted" query: <www.genforum.com/> A good URL for locating cemeteries in U.S.A., try: <http://www.daddezio.com/cemetery/junction/index.html> Awhile ago when answering Joan in NSW, used this time zone site sent by Lois Guffy: <http://www.timezoneconverter.com/> Interesting legislation proposed in TX affecting access to old records. Mic Barnette writes a weekly genealogy column in The Houston Chronicle. Read it on the Web At Barnette's Family Tree Book Company: <http://barnettesbooks.com> Last week someone posted the wrong address for the FHC on one of the forums. The correct address for the Family History Center Online: <http://32.96.111.13/default.asp> Kathryn

    1. [AL-MOBILEBAY-L] Scott,Fredrick
    2. Looking for final resting place and other information for Charles Fredrick Scott/Fredrick Charles Scott who died circa 1901-1902 in Citronelle, Mobile County, Al. He was a share-cropper and family history has him as a little "Scotsman". Other information is that there is a Scottish Cemetery outside Citronelle, but trips to the local Funeral Home revealed nothing and letters to the home office of the Funeral Home have gone unanswered. Some conversation locally is that the cemetery is now on private land belonging to a large paper company. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Coley Scott, great grandson of Charles Fredrick Scott.

Dear Edith, Paula and others, I *think* Paula was enquiring about the Baldwin County Genealogical Society, not the Mobile Genealogical Society, because you mentioned BCGS and the BCHS in a previous email in this particular thread. The email address you mention above is for Beverly Dennis who is Corresponding Secretary for the Mobile Gen Soc. Just to make sure everyone has the info they want, let's put it all out there: BALDWIN COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY (includes membership info) http://www.gulftel.net/bcgs/ BALDWIN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY http://www.siteone.com/clubs/mgs/neighbor/Baldwin_County_Historical_Society.htm MOBILE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY http://www.siteone.com/clubs/mgs/ MOBILE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY - The Membership Department http://www.siteone.com/clubs/mgs/membrshp.htm > I help with research along with other people. That's right. Edith is a top-notch researcher who helps whomever she can whenever she can. She has put in many years doing research with both MGS and BCGS. That's one reason I asked her to subscribe to this list, because I knew she would be an asset. -- Regards, Kevin Sellew in Mobile, Alabama Listowner of MOBILE BAY AREA ROOTS [AL-MOBILEBAY] *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* President of the Mobile (Alabama) Genealogical Society -- a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization and WebMaster for the Mobile Genealogical Society Web Site On the Web: http://www.siteone.com/clubs/mgs/ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    3. For those interested in cemetery preservation, one of the links provided by Kathryn leads to a wondefully informative site that contains an extremely well done pamphlet on this topic that can be downloaded in .pdf format for those with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The url is www.thc.state.tx.us/Gerron.html Although the creator of the pamphlet and website has been active in the State of Texas in cemetery protection and preservation, most of what his pamphlet has to say would be relevant anywhere and really is an inspiration for people like myself who don't know the first thing about how to go about such a project. 3. I looked at several of the links to online cemetery listings, but did not yet find any transcriptions of Myers Cemetery near Mobile. Unfortunately, a lot of the websites don't maintain their hypertext links very vigilantly and one is frustrated in getting to a particular county's information in this way when the info. isn't on the same page. There was, however, other good info on some and they are worth taking a look at. Does anybody know whether or not the Roche Funeral Home in Mobile is still in existence? I am interested in ordering their records for the period after 1902 (up to which I have some of their records, which a kind soul sent me), but the order form I was sent didn't have later records as an option.
