I don't know anything about the WELLS FAMILY but many of the Duggan's family died of Yellow Fever between 1853 and 1856. Theresa New City, NY
Hi - There are a number of Wells listed in the book Magnoilia Cem,etery, 1828 - 1971, by Thompson, as follows. I'm listing everything in the book about these folks. I'll put the names they're listed with , which probably means in the same lot, in parentheses. P.199: Ellen Wells, A native of Boston, Died Oct 21, 1855 Age 21 years (Mary e. Naylor) p. 213: Ruth B. Wells, 1908 - 1941 (King, Brannon, McMillan, Seibert, Elis, King, Seibert) p 215: Hl L Wells, Dec. 25, 1893 , Age 33 years. (In Knights of Pythias Lot, Reserve Lodge No. 24) p. 369: Angella Kimballl Pritchard Wells (Pritchard) p. 455: Preston Bookter Wells, 1872 - 1958; Chick Wallace Wells, 1877 - 1936. p. 489: Irby L. Wells, Oct 12, 1901 - April 7, 1947 ( Burns, Burns) None of this seems to fit what you need, but maybe there's a lead there. I have been told that a number of people moved from Claiborne to Perdue Hill to get away from the river because of a fever epidemic. Sorry, I don't know when it happened tho. Some of our good researchers in the Alabama area probably know. Emma in NM
Gail: Quite a few of the Davis families who settled in Monroe and Baldwin Counties came from Marion Co., SC and before that, Pennsylvania, and before that, Wales. Mine did. Send me a simple listing of your line and I will see if they connect to my ancestors. Kathryn
Joe and other Davis seekers, I have a Mary Ann Davis who married George S. Bradley in Monroe County, Al about 1848. I have searched the courthouses of Baldwin, Monroe, and Clarke Counties trying to put the Davis, Bradley, Pearson(Pierce) and Lister Clans together. Please contact me. I will share the information that I have gathered. I have not been able to find their ancestors. Maybe we can work together? I am returning to Mobile to search the courthouse again! My lines that I know about settled in Mobile, Baldwin County, AL and Escambia County, FL. I wonder if the Pearson and Lister's from Clarke County went to Texas or Mississippi in the 1850s? Hi Kathryn and Listers: I did not make notes of them, but on a rootsweb census in Washington Co., Fla, 1860, someone mixed up my WHIDDONs with MIXONS. I do not have URL at this time as I'm on a laptop of hubby's. You can check it thru rootsweb, though. Just in case whoever asked for MIXON wondered if there were any in Florida---there were! I know we have a lot of Baumhauer-related people on the list. I have been writing to two folks on the list who have Baumhauer connections, but we are stumped as to the birth information for Linda Dodds Baumhauer, wife of Jacques H. Baumhauer of Whistler. We think she was born in around 1881 and we know she died at 79 years of age in either 1960 or '61. But, what we're really wondering about is the Dodds part though. She was born too early to be a child to my great-great-aunt and uncle Mark Dodds and Maggie Myers Dodds of Whistler, as were they married in 1887. Mark Dodds was orphaned in the mid-1870s, but had several siblings, both older and younger. He and his family were originally from Tennessee. I'm wondering whether Linda Dodds Baumhauer could have been a niece to Mark. I've never heard about any siblings living in the Whistler area, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been. Does anybody know where I might look for clues to this mystery? Bronya Berkeley, CA

Searching for information on George Noble LYLES and Temperance MOODY and their children - miagrated to Clarke County in the early days of statehood. I have lots to share on these families. Thanks, Robert Lyles www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/2056/index.html
Please folks, don't pursue a roll call of surnames at this time. It creates an enormous amount of email that usually causes a lot of unsubscriptions. You are much better served by posting individual email messages regarding each of your surnames (that have roots in the 10 counties that this list covers) with some information regarding that family (dates, places, forenames, relationships, etc.) so that that *information* can be archived on the list. Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT to remember to put the SURNAME in the subject line. Subject lines are very important tools when communicating genealogical queries via email. They very often make the difference between whether someone reads or doesn't read your message. One more thing, while I have your attention. It is standard genealogical format to write dates in dd/mm/yyyy format. For instance, today is 6 May 1999. If you write 5/6/1999, many folks won't know if you mean May 6th or June 5th? Only Americans write dates with slashes in the mm/dd/yyyy format. Subscribers to this list live in Canada and Europe as well. Bottom line, please write out your dates like 6 May 1999. (I know I'm beginning to sound like your mom, but I'm just trying to make things easier and to increase the possibilities of you making connections) Thanks for your attention.
