    3. Hi - I'm not sure if any of this will help, but I'm going to coy all the Hines informationlisted int he book "Magnolia Cemetery 1828 - 1971" by Thmpson. It may help you connect something. Good luck, Marian Those that are listed together may be in the same lot - they are separated on the page by dashes. I'll list last names of others than Hines if they are listed together in this fashion. p.143: Margaret Hines Nov 30, 1860 - May 4, 1883; Charles F. Hines April 10, 1854 - July 25, 1884; Michael Hines Sept. 20, 1822 - July 7, 1884 and wife, Charlotte Hines May 7, 1819 - March 4 1884; Michael Hines Aug 31, 1819 - Aug 7, 1926; Children of Michael & Charlotte Hines: Emiline, Feb 11, 1848 - Feb 20, 1848; Charlotte A. July 4 1850 - Oct 2, 1864; William T. July 11, 1845 - Oct 6 1864; George W. Feb 7, 1864 - April 24, 1865; John H. Feb 17, 1944 - June 5, 1965; (The names listed below go to the next col,umn on the page, but aren't separated by dashes - don't know if they're children, but I doubt it as their last names are spelled out.) Julia A. Hines Oct 11, 1846 - Feb. 16, 1866; Isabella J. Hines April 17, 1852 - Feb 22, 1884. p. 198: Frederick W. 2. Addice Thomas
    3. Hi Houston: Thanks for such a quick reply. I'm afraid I was hoping for one of those serendipitous goldmine strikes! My line is Dr. Mills Lewis who married Mary (Polly) Wiggins. Polly Wiggins was child of John B. Wiggins and wife Fannie King. All of this particular Wiggins research has been done by Agness Wiggins Gunter whom you probably know. Her work is carefully and skillfully documented and it is her plan to publish. The Thomas Wiggins, which your exchange with Cindy Patterson was about, was either the uncle or the brother of my Mary (Polly) Wiggins. According to Agness, the uncle of my Polly (brother to Polly's father, as above) would be Col Thomas Wiggins (1773-1830) who m. Sarah Davis (1778-1850). The brother of my Mary (Polly) Wiggins would be Thomas Wiggins (1791 - 1835) who m. Elizabeth George (1795-1824). Please be in touch with Agness for further clarification and input. [email protected] Interjecting myself into your exchange with Cindy Patterson was due to my interest in Lucretia R. LEWIS. The fact that she married a Wiggins and was also from this Clarke Co., AL area made me hope for a possible connection to my Dr. Mills Lewis who married Polly Wiggins. I know she is not their daughter, but hope she may turn out to be the daughter of a brother. Mill Lewis was from VA and had the following brothers: Lemuel, John, Elisha, Elijah, Benjamin and Miles. He almost certainly went to AL with one or more of Polly's brothers, but did any of his own brother's also go to AL? I have done very little research on this Lewis line, having only made the positive connection to the Wiggins line very recently and having only located Family Bible proof of parentage of Mills Lewis in early March of this year. Note to Kay and Sherry: Agness has Mary E. Wiggins (with spouse George W. Bates) as daughter of William Wiggins and spouse Sarah Marsh. This William Wiggins is another son of the John B. Wiggins and wife Fannie King. William Wiggins is also the brother of my Mary (Polly) Wiggins. So please include me with a copy of your E-mails as you work this line further. Looks like we're all cousins. Don't know where Frances L. Wiggins in the 1850 Washington Co. AL census fits in. Best wishes all around. Addice in Fairfax, VA. If anyone can help with the LEWIS line mailto:[email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 08, 1999 9:01 PM Subject: Re: Lucretia R. 2. HINES, Michael Mobile Co, AL Location: 5 W. Mobile 1860 Census Pg. #051 So far no one in Mobile or Alabama has responded to my request for a look-up and at this time I can't afford to send $10 to the archives, so please could some kind person help me? I am trying to find my grandfather Edward F. HINES b. 1860 Mobile, AL, so I would like to ask if someone could do an 1870 census look up as well. My Uncle Leslie told me about Michael coming to America in 1833 from Alsace Lorrain, but I haven't been able to verify that at all. My Mother told me that she had seen papers for Michel HINES from King Louis XIV to come to the new world. So, if Michel (French for Michael) came at that time that would have been quite a bit earlier. I believe my uncle may have said that he came in through LA as well, but he was an old man and could have been a bit confused as he was living in an old soldier's home; so I am trying to see if this Michael in the 1860 census could possibly be my ggrandfather. I don't know when Edward was born and he might not be on this census at all, so that is why I am requesting a look up for both 1860 and 1870. Thank you, Pastor Barbara

A silversmith who emigrated from North Carolina wrote this about the town in 1820: "St. Stephens is a rough frontier town with streets full of hogs wallowingin mud holes, barrooms, drunkards lyingin and out of doors, scarlet women, bloody fights, shootings and killings, gambling games going on day and night." -- James P. 1. Re: [AL-MOBILEBAY-L] Mark Dodds Therrell Family
    2. Hello, And it's great to hear of someone who knows the Therrells. The Mark Therrel mentioned as father was actually Mark Dodds Therrell, Sr, who was married to Barbara C. Yukers, daughter of Franklin and Sophie B. Yukers. Franklin was born in Germany and was a barber. Barbara would not have been a sister to Linda Dodds. The children of Mark Dodds and Barbara C Therrell were Franklin D., Dorothy B., Hilda T., Mark Dodds Jr., and Belle. When I got some of my information, I was too green in genealogy to know what questions to ask. Mark Dodds Therrell, Sr. was the son of Zachariah Taylor Therrell, my husband's, great-grandfather. Mark was a machinist on the M & O RR, and Zach was an engineer on the RR. Charles Benjamin Therrell, Zach's first-born son, was supposedly killed in a train wreck when he was just 20 years old in 1896. I've tried to find news articles about that, but have not been successful. Hilda Maund gave me much of the information I have on the Therrells. Whenever you're in Mobile, if you are interested, send me a private note. I would love to talk with you about the Therrells, and will let you know how to contact me. The Lyle names you mentioned are all familiar, and I believe Mrs. Annie Lyle was Fred Lyle's widow who became Annie Raue. Her daughter married a Davidson. Tonight, I found a note I'd made from Roche-McKay Funeral Home records that "George Hall Therrell, wm, 6 months, died 2 February 1919 in Laredo, TX. Funeral was held at the Therrell residence, Rev Barnes, minister, interment in Whistler Cemetery. Informant was George H Therrell. I think this age was in error because the tombstone says George Hall Therrell, Jr, b 1913, d 1919, which would make his 6 YEARS old, rather than 6 months. So, he was the son of George Hall and Norah E. Therrell, Sr. Earlene Lyle
