    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xhC.2ACE/751.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, there is another Johnson in this company [Co. "D" 13th P.R. Battn.; later Co. "H" 56th P.R. Regt.]. All of them enlisted at Jasper Ala. on Sept. 6, 1862. All appear on roll through Oct. 1863, the last issue on file. The names are Freeman, N. J. and W. M. Johnson, the last named on roll as a bugler. Although Johnson is a common name, these men should be close together on the Walker County 1860. Also, have you ever used the agricultural census for 1860? Those who need only names, dates and places won't be interested, but if knowing how your ancestors lived had any attraction to you, this is it! The ag. schedule provides more detail than most can imagine about these people's farms. It records everything they raised or made except distilled liquor, and every animal except dogs, cats and feathered creatures. Here's an abstract of a Virginia County for 1860: http://www.ls.net/~newriver/gray60ag.htm Alan "No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel, can avail against the LORD." Prov. 21:30
