Bush Jones, who commanded Co. "L" of the 18th Alabama. This was the result of a merger of Cos. "A" and "G" of Blount's Battalion, officers and men from St. Clair County, which happened in late April of 1862. A year later the Confederate War Department reversed the order dissolving the battalion, and Co. "L" became Cos. "A" and "G" of the 9th Alabama Battn., led by Lt. Col. Bush Jones. I understand this episode is confusing. A longer explanation may be provided if anyone is interested.
