    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xhC.2ACE/809.1 Message Board Post: Obviously the officer in the 6th Alabama from Russell County isn't yours, and unless he left the state after the 1860 census, he's probably not one of the others. Since you're not certain of a middle initial, I'd suggest B. P. Perry of Co. "K", 8th Alabama Infantry. That company was recruited by Duke Nall before the war and called the "Southern Guards". Soldiers came from Perryville, Radfordsville and other small communities in Perry County. Gov. A. B. Moore issued commissions to Capt. Nall and his lieutenants on Jan. 8, 1861. In his letter to Gov. Moore, Nall says, "Allow us to add (not however in a trustful Spirit) that we are not organized for mere child’s play but Sir we hold ourselves in readiness to march at your first call.” The company was assigned to the 8th Alabama Regiment, which organized at Richmond Va. on June 10, 1861. If you're interested, I can check the service record for a date of death. Some people enjoy waiting on things. If not, I can copy and mail CSA service records in a week or two, instead of the four or five months it takes the folks in Washington to process a request.
