Next time contact me when you need a service record or pension application for a Confederate or Revolutionary War soldier. Once we've established which record to copy, I can usually make copies and mail them within a week to ten days. My email address is pittsaj14@hotmail.com. An unusual number of published accounts are in print about the 40th Alabama. A recent title is "Cush: A Civil War Memoir", by Samuel H. Sprott. This book was published by the Livingston Press at the University of West Alabama and is available in a softcover edition. It's a compilation of Capt. Sprott's wartime memoirs, which appeared in "Our Southern Home", his local newspaper, starting in 1899. Spott had a wonderful way of telling the story of his regiment. By the way, "Cush" is the name of the dish soldiers prepared from the rations they were issued. Thanks again for your question.
