Does anyone have access to AncestorSpy Alabama 1870 Federal Census: Marengo County (Order No. M593-28)? I have used Ancestry.com index and can't find a relative that I KNOW was there. I love ancestry.com but this index is messed up. It lists my relatives in the Shiloh beat, but they are found in the Hampden Beat at the Shiloh Post Office. I am hoping someone has access to another transcribed version of the index for Marengo County 1870 Census. I have found the Hammet J. Craig and Laura Treadwell families for 1860 and 1870. I am missing the John B. Stanford family who is their neighbor in 1860 and they all moved to Manatee Co., FL for the 1880 census. I KNOW my John Stanford is on that 1870 census for Marengo County. I have family letters and John Stanford was living in Marengo County, near the Craigs and the Tredwells in 1870. How can I find an Index other than ancestry.com? Thanks so very much! Fredreica
I have found a J.B. Stanford on the ancestry.com index. He is said to be living in the Nanafalia beat on page 511. The Nanfalia beat only goes to page 492, that I could find. The entire Marengo County 1870 index seems to be messed up. Has anyone out there figured it out!?! Thanks! Fredreica
