Could someone please look-up the above two GRANT households in the 1860 census for me please? I have found the index online, but not the census. If anyone knows where it might be online, please let me know and I'll check this out myself. Thanks, again, so very much for your help! Fredreica speyer@bellsouth.net Note: My GGG-Grandfather was Wiley Cleavland Grant. His wife was Martha Eliza SHARP. His father was James Wiley (or William) Grant. His mother was Abagial Ann SHADDOCK. He had at least one brother who also lived in Dallas County until after the War Between the States. Either his father or his father-in-law raised camels, as did a Mr. WOOLSEY, who, I believe, may have been a neighbor. Wiley Cleveland Grant married 2nd) Mary MURPHY in August of 1864. I do not know where the Union Beat islocated ,although if anyone knows how to access them via the internet, I would love to know the map site, so I don't know how close these people are to one another. The census page numbers seem to indicate that they live in the same general area. My GG-Grandmother, Mary Ella Grant, was born in 1858 in a community that was known at the time as Frog Level. It was near Bellevue in Dallas County. Bellevue is in central western portion of Dallas County not too far from Browns. I believe the family also lived around Pea Ridge in Dallas Co. MURPHEY, W. I have found these two GRANT families at ancestry.com. I subscribe to the census images online. I have downloaded the plug-in. I have gone to browse completed records for 1870 Federal Census for the State of Alabama, Dallas County, Selma, 4th Ward. What does pages 701 and 631 mean? Selma, 4th Ward has page 1 - 49. The images are incrdibly hard to read and must be zoomed into in patches. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone know how to find these families using this. I will offer to do look-ups if I can figure out how to look things up!?! Thanks!
