Thanks a lot, Linda. Josephine was supposed to have married Francis Slattery 1st and she was listed as Josephine Slattery in an 1870 census, but she was in the home of her mother, so I thought perhaps Francis had died by then because on the LDS site, it says that Josephine Slattery married Abraham Keller in Montgomery, Alabama, on 8/29/1867, but I can't find any record of that marriage other than that....and why wouldn't she be listed in that 1870 census as Josephine Keller? Then she married Fritz Hinderer on 5/2/1872. I'm just wondering if the info about Abraham Keller is wrong. Oh well, the search continues. Melissa, Look for a recorded marriage license in Montgomery County - don't rely on personal submissions to the LDS. The marriage to Abe Keller is possible, timewise, of course, but may have not lasted for a very long time. A lot happened in those days in the ways of births and deaths in a ten year period. As for being enumerated as Slattery in 1870, she may have simply reverted to that surname because she had Slattery children. ----- Original Message ----- From: Melissa Parker To: AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2005 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] 1900/Montgomery/HINDERER Thanks a lot, Linda. Thanks Linda, that is possible that she did revert back to Slattery because she didn't have any children with Keller, or the info on the LDS site was wrong. I will be researching that marriage further. I appreciate your help. Melissa Here are the LDS film reference for Josephine's marriages. You might want to order this roll of microfilm so you can actually eye-ball the records because there seems to be a big descrepancy in the names you're working from. Terry, I have been looking for records of my grandparents marriage, with no luck. What do you do to find them at the LDS ? Also, since they were married in Alabama, would I need to check in Montgomery? I know they married 1917/1918, supposedly in Gadsden, Etowah Co. She was from St. Clair Co., but there is no record of them there, nor Calhoun Co. Yes thank you, Terry, That first one has been very confusing also because Thomas C. Slattery died in December of 1865, which meant they were only married for about 11 months, and Josephine had two children by the name of Slattery. Family records indicated that she was married to a Francis Albert Slattery. Then there's the big question I have about Abraham Keller also being incorrect. I'll have to check into that further.
