There's no Catherine or Katherine Leslie listed in the death index, but lots of "C" Leslies. What is the last census year she was found living, and in what county? Linda, I apologize for both the sketchy info and not doing my homework. Catherine LESLIE was her maiden name. On the 1850 Macon Co. census in the HH of John LASLIE she is age 3. On the 1860 Macon Co. census, HH of John LESLIE, it looked more like Clara P. age 12. On the 1870 Bullock Co. census, HH Jane LESLIE, she is gone. I had relied on memory as to when this area became part of Bullock. It was actually Dec. 5, 1866 - the first census as Bullock was 1870. We had accounted for this whole family except Catherine/Clara and finally assumed she died sometime between 1860 and 1870. Then we began correspondence with her oldest brother's family in Illinois (Alexander M.) One of his granddaughters had written out a chart of sorts on her Mother's family and included a few notes. She said she thought her grandfather's family were from Birmingham, AL because she could recall a lady coming to visit a few times and she thought the lady was his sister and her name was "Fitz something, Fitzpatrick or Fitzgerald, or something similar." Since there were early settlers in Macon/Pike Co. by these names, we tried to check all those families and could find none that had married a female Leslie/Laslie. The marriage date was a guesstimate based on Catherine/Clara's age but should have been Bullock and not Macon. If there is a C. Leslie who died in Macon before 1866 or Bullock before 1870, it could very well be her, since we have nothing but a perhaps memory that she did, indeed, marry. Thank you so much for you help and continued patience as always! Evelyn

    3. There's only one Catharine Leslie indexed in my Alabama marriages database - Catharine Leslie married Omar Taylor in Marengo County in 1855. Obviously not yours. There's only one year included for Bullock County (1867-68), and there are no Leslies listed there. Alabama's death records didn't begin until 1908, so that's not going to include her either. Sorry.
